Mark primarily advises technology companies of all stages and their financial sponsors on their most important transactions. He is experienced in a broad range of Venture Capital, M&A (Private & Public) as well as general Corporate Law matters.

Mark strives to always provide his clients with efficient and pragmatic solutions that help them succeed. He particularly enjoys accompanying entrepreneurs and start-ups on their growth trajectory.

In the four years prior to joining Orrick, Mark was an Associate in the Düsseldorf office of Linklaters. He is dual-qualified in Germany (Rechtsanwalt) as well as in the UK (Solicitor, England & Wales) and holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree from King's College London.

  • Mark’s recent transactional experience includes advising:

    • US VC Coatue as (lead) investor in multiple large cap VC investments in some of Germany's best-known start-ups, including the unicorns N26, Gorillas and Choco Communications 
    • Headline Ventures (formerly e.ventures) on the merger of the two German fintechs Deposit Solutions and Raisin as well as further VC investments
    • German air mobility start-up Lilium on its USD 3.3 billion SPAC Merger with Qell (NASDAQ listing)
    • German software company Camunda on its USD 100 million Series B
    • UK VC Blossom Capital on its investments in finmid and Superchat (SuperX)
    • US VC Alafi Capital in relation to Resolve BioSciences’ USD 24 million Series A and further financings
    • Various university start-ups, in particular from RWTH Aachen University, and further early-stage start-ups, starting from foundation through multiple financing rounds – including ACCURE Battery Intelligence, automaited (formerly aiConomix) and RIIICO
    • Henkel on its investment in Swiss medical technology start-up Smartz AG
    • QIAGEN on the USD 12.4 billion takeover offer by Thermo Fisher Scientific*
    • Volkswagen AG on the sale of its 76% stake in RENK AG to Private Equity firm Triton*
