Evan has more than 25 years’ experience advising on the financing, development and acquisition of energy projects. Throughout his career, Evan has been at the forefront of developing cutting-edge, innovative structures that have helped to shape industry standards.

Evan advises lenders, ECAs, institutional investors, renewable energy companies, investment firms and pension funds on financings, M&A, joint ventures and other strategic combinations. He brings considerable experience in wide range of renewable energy portfolio deals, as well as gas and power transmission and distribution projects and he has a market-leading offshore wind practice.

    • Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), a global leader in renewable energy, through its flagship fund CI V, on the acquisition of a majority stake in the 15GW Elgin Energy solar PV and battery storage portfolio in the UK, Ireland and Australia. 
    • Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) on its partnership with Amberside Energy for the development of 2 GW + of solar PV, battery storage and solar PV with co-located battery storage projects in the UK. As part of the partnership, CIP will provide a development loan to Amberside to enable the development of the solar PV, battery storage and solar PV with co-located battery storage projects.
    • A leading renewable energy developer on the sale of a 49% stake in three development stage offshore wind projects in Sweden to Ingka Investments. The projects – Galatea-Galene, located off the coast of Halland, Triton, located off the coast of Skåne and Aurora, located off the coast of Gotland and Öland – have the potential to reach an aggregate installed capacity of 9 GW and to produce up to 38 TWh combined, once operational, corresponding to more than 25% of the electricity consumed in Sweden in 2021.
    • Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) on its partnership with Bute Energy (Bute). As part of the transaction, CIP’s flagship fund Copenhagen Infrastructure IV K/S will invest in Bute’s portfolio of onshore wind farms and solar PV projects, some with co-located battery energy storage systems, under development in Wales, UK. The Bute portfolio consists of projects at various stages of development and is expected to have a total installed capacity of over 2GW by 2030.
    • Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners on the sale of 100% of its 49% interest in a joint venture with Falck Renewables S.p.A. comprising an operational onshore wind portfolio in Scotland and Wales to Infrastructure Investment Fund, an infrastructure fund advised by J.P. Morgan Asset Management.
    • The lenders and hedge providers on the approximately US$1.6 billion project financing of the 298MW Zhong Neng offshore wind farm in Taiwan, which is being constructed in a joint venture between China Steel Corporation (CSC) (51%) and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) through its fund Copenhagen Infrastructure IV (49%). This financing is the first majority Taiwanese bank non-recourse financing of an offshore wind farm in Taiwan (a new source of liquidity), the first without ECAs and is the most “localised” offshore wind project in Taiwan to date. The transaction also marks China Steel Corporation’s entry into the offshore wind market.
    • Cover Providers and Finance Parties on the USD 3 billion Changfang and Xidao offshore wind financing in Taiwan.
    • Institutional investors on a £1.3 billion Investment-grade bond in relation to the acquisition by leading Danish pension funds PKA and PFA of a 50% stake in 659 MW Walney Extension offshore wind farm from Orsted (formerly DONG Energy). The deal is valued at £2 billion, of which £1.3 billion is being funded through the Issuance of the bond.
    • Club of commercial lenders on the proposed project financing of the Kincardine floating offshore wind project in the UK.
    • Pension Denmark as the co-lender on the £1.9 billion project financing of the 600MW Beatrice Offshore wind farm in the UK
    • Ørsted as co-lender and offtake on the project financed Lincs offshore wind farm.
    • PGGM of the acquisition of an interest in and project financing of the EnBW Baltic offshore wind project in Germany.
    • The Finance parties, ECAs Euler-Hermes and EKF and EIB on the €900 million financing of the second and third phases of the Thornton Bank offshore wind farm in Belgium.
    • CIP on the proposed mezzanine facility for the Cape Wind offshore wind project in the USA.
    • Belwind N.V. on the arrangements for the €600 million financing, construction and operation of the 165 MW first phase of the Bligh Bank offshore wind farm located 47 km off the Belgian coast near Zeebrugge.
    • PNG AG on a €102 million bond financing for a portfolio of eight wind farms totaling 140 MW with investment grade rating. The bond was wrapped by a monoline insurer.
    • PKA, one of Denmark's leading pension funds, on its acquisition and financing of a 50% stake in the Teesside Renewable Energy Plant in the North East of England. The investment bank Macquarie Capital holds the remaining 50%, and the total investment in the plant is anticipated to be in the region of £900 million.
    • Ørsted on its sale of a 50% stake in the 258 MW Burbo Bank Extension UK offshore wind farm project to Danish pension provider PKA and KIRKBI A/S, parent company of the LEGO Group.
    • Ørsted on the £644 million sale of a 25% stake in the London Array 1 offshore wind project to a special purpose vehicle owned and controlled by Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec.
    • Ørsted on its sell downs to Marubeni Corporation of a 49.9% stake in the Gunfleet Sands offshore wind farm and to Scottish and Southern and PGGM of a 49% stake in Walney 1 and Walney 2 offshore wind projects.
    • Ørsted on the sale of the transmission system assets relating to the Gunfleet Sands 1 and Gunfleet Sands II offshore wind farm projects and the Walney 1 and Walney 2 offshore wind projects.
    • Siemens Project Venture on its acquisition of a 10% stake in the Gwent y Mor offshore wind project.
    • Pension Denmark on the acquisition of a 49% stake in Falck Renewables' onshore portfolio in the UK.
    • Scotland-based Renewable Energy Solutions Company. Infratil will invest in the company in conjunction with the Commonwealth Superannuation Corporation (“CSC”), the New Zealand Superannuation Fund (“NZ Super Fund”) and the Morrison & Co Growth Infrastructure Fund (“Co-Investors”).
    • Global renewable investor and asset manager on the development of its investment portfolio into the Italian solar PV market.
    • Ørsted on the acquisition of the 800 MW Severn CCGT power station from Welsh Power.
    • Velocita Energy Developments Ltd (Riverstone portfolio company) on the disposal of two onshore wind farms in Scotland — the operational 11.5 MW Ardoch and Over Enoch project in East Renfrewshire and the construction-stage 35 MW Airies project in Dumfries and Galloway, to NTR Wind 1 Fund, a vehicle backed by Irish developer NTR, Legal & General Capital, Strathclyde Pension Fund and the Irish Strategic investment Fund. The two wind farms are being developed, constructed and operated by 2020 Renewabies, VelocIta's UK development business, which is continuing to develop projects in Scotland.
    • Velocita Energy Developments Ltd on the disposal of its French business, consisting of a 14 MW operating onshore windfarm in France and its French development portfolio, to Chinese turbine manufacturer Envision Energy. The pipeline consists of circa 500 MW of projects at various stages of development, primarily located in eastern France near Besancon. Envision is also set to acquire Velocita's French development team.
    • Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, through the fund Copenhagen Infrastructure II K/S, on a US$61 million mezzanine loan for the construction of the onshore wind farm Fluvanna I in Scurry County, Texas (“Fluvanna I”). Fluvanna I is owned and will be operated by Terna Energy S.A. (“Tema”). The total investment in Fluvanna I will be US$251 million.
    • Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners on the acquisition of two onshore wind projects in Texas, Bearkat Renewable Energy Project (366 MW) and Blue Cloud Renewable Energy Project (150 MW), from TH Global Energy.
    • Siemens Project Venture on its acquisition of a 10% stake in the Gwent y Mor offshore wind project.
    • Ørsted on the acquisition of the 800 MW Severn CCGT power station from Welsh Power.
