Meg Hennessey has broad and unique domestic and international experience advising online service providers on compliance with online safety and consumer protection-related laws and best practices regarding the presence of potentially misleading or harmful content that could lead to regulatory investigations, litigation, as well as criminal and reputational risks.
Meg has experience leading diverse teams of lawyers and consultants conducting internal and other compliance-related investigations in the online trust and safety, and corporate ethics spaces. She has strong project management skills and assists multinational clients in responding to complex and sensitive investigations initiated by enforcement authorities and regulators in the United States (U.S.) and United Kingdom (UK), including the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the Office of Inspector General (OIG), state attorney generals, Congress, the UK Office of Communications (Ofcom) and UK Parliament. Her experience on both sides of corporate Monitorships similarly provides her with a unique perspective when advising clients facing regulatory scrutiny in the U.S. and the UK on best practices to be used in the assessment or development of compliance programs that will be acceptable to those enforcement authorities.
