Cody works with founders at every stage, from early formation to financing rounds, acquisitions, and IPOs. He has a particular focus on first-time founders navigating the complexities of startup life, helping them make informed decisions without getting lost in legal jargon.
Before becoming a lawyer, Cody was the COO of a health and fitness e-commerce startup in Las Vegas. That entrepreneurial experience shaped his approach—he brings a “nothing is impossible” mindset and a deep understanding that legal matters are just one piece of the puzzle for founders. His advice is always practical, actionable, and tailored to the realities of running a fast-moving business.
Cody represents both startups and venture funds across industries including e-commerce, fintech, climatetech, future of work, edtech, life sciences, and biotech. He also leverages Orrick’s deep industry focuses and innovative legal tools to help high-growth companies navigate financings, IPOs, and M&A transactions.
An active member of the LA startup community, Cody regularly mentors and coaches founders, including participants in the Plug In Accelerator, a program supporting Black and Latinx early-stage entrepreneurs.
Cody earned his law degree from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law and his bachelor’s degree from Pomona College. Before joining Orrick, he was a partner and co-founder of Gunderson Dettmer’s Los Angeles office.

Josh represents high-growth technology companies and venture capital firms in many areas, including corporate and securities law, corporate formations, venture capital financings, mergers and acquisitions, public offerings, secondary offerings and SPAC transactions.
Josh was recognized as a Fintech Rising Star by Law360 for his work representing innovative companies such as Accrue, Crexi, Dave, Deel, Dub, Get Covered, Trullion and Stripe. He has been nationally recognized by Chambers and Partners USA and Legal500 for his work representing startups and venture capital funds.
Josh’s company-side representations also include high-growth AI and SaaS companies, such as Speak and Supabase, energy tech companies such as Radiant Nuclear and Zeno Power, and healthtech companies such as Grow Therapy, Pearl and Saferide Health.
In addition to his company-side representations, Josh has represented leading venture capital firms and other strategic investors, including Bonfire, Coatue, Darsana Capital, D1 Capital, Ground Up Ventures, Pathbreaker Ventures, Upfront Ventures and Wonder Ventures.
Josh has significant buy-side and sell-side M&A experience, including representing Deel in its acquisitions of CapBase, Legalpad, Hofy, Payspace, Roots, Zavvy and Zeitgold.

Jason serves as a trusted advisor to founders, emerging growth companies, venture capital funds, and other strategic investors in a wide array of corporate matters in connection with planning and executing a variety of transactions. Primarily, including formation, early and late-stage venture funding rounds, corporate governance, corporate partnerships, strategic alliances, licensing arrangements, and investment matters. Jason advises companies across fintech, crypto, software, sports, artificial intelligence, and digital media.
Jason regularly represents Y Combinator companies. In addition to representing US companies on domestic transactions, Jason represents companies across the United States, EMEA, and Asia.
Prior to joining Orrick, Jason spent time within the legal departments of Netflix, Google, Facebook, and reserve stablecoin cryptocurrency. Prior to law school, Jason worked at Wilkinson Stekloff LLP aiding trials in federal courts, including The Northern District of California; The Southern District of New York; The Eastern District of Louisiana; and The Western District of Missouri.

José counsels high-growth companies on corporate governance, venture financings, and strategic transactions. He regularly advises on cross-border matters, with particular depth in Latin America, and works across industries including consumer internet, software, fintech, blockchain, edtech and healthtech.
In addition to representing companies, José advises leading venture capital firms and other investors on their investments in early and high-growth businesses. His work emphasizes clear, business-focused solutions to help clients move quickly and effectively.

Jake received his JD/MBA from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and the Wharton School of Business in 2018, where he received the Academic Excellence Fellowship. He is also a 2010 graduate of Dartmouth College and prior to attending law school worked at education startups in New York.
