Jake graduated first in his class with a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Colorado and worked at the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics, where he designed, built, and tested circuits for NASA-contracted space missions. Since graduating in the top 10% of his class from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law, Jake has litigated diverse patent matters, encompassing cybersecurity, gaming, digital advertising technologies, analog and digital electronics, circuit design, testing, and fabrication, and renewable energy. He also possesses notable experience in copyright cases involving AI and data scraping.
Jake is deeply committed to pro bono work in indigent criminal defense, stemming from his Orrick fellowship at the Office of the Federal Public Defender for the Central District of California. Notably, he successfully secured compassionate release for a client serving a life sentence and played a crucial role as third-chair in a 10-day trial involving a client charged with violating the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA).
When Jake isn't advocating for his clients, he enjoys writing and recording music under the artist name Drip Lines and spending time with his wife, daughter, and two dogs.

Before becoming a lawyer, Cody was the COO of a health and fitness e-commerce startup in Las Vegas. That entrepreneurial experience shaped his approach—he brings a “nothing is impossible” mindset and a deep understanding that legal matters are just one piece of the puzzle for founders. His advice is always practical, actionable, and tailored to the realities of running a fast-moving business.
Cody represents both startups and venture funds across industries including e-commerce, fintech, climatetech, future of work, edtech, life sciences, and biotech. He also leverages Orrick’s deep industry focuses and innovative legal tools to help high-growth companies navigate financings, IPOs, and M&A transactions.
An active member of the LA startup community, Cody regularly mentors and coaches founders, including participants in the Plug In Accelerator, a program supporting Black and Latinx early-stage entrepreneurs.

He is a trusted advisor to private equity real estate investors, funds and institutional lenders on their complex acquisitions, dispositions, financings and developments of office, multifamily, industrial, mixed-use, hotel and golf course properties.
Jon has a particular focus on complex real estate financings, including the origination of mezzanine debt, A/B tiered structures and loan on loan structures, including bridge loans, full construction loans and TI/LC and CapEx future funding facilities.
Jon serves as a relationship co-lead for one of Orrick’s top real estate clients, Walton Street Capital. He also works closely with leading real estate private equity investors, including Westbrook Partners, Cirrus Real Estate Partners and Hackman Capital Partners.

Daniel advises private equity clients and other investors in all aspects of their real estate, real estate finance, and related matters, including purchase and sale transactions, development, mortgage and mezzanine financing, preferred equity arrangements, workouts, restructuring transactions, and joint venture formations.
He counsels clients on transactions backed by diverse asset classes throughout the United States, including multifamily, office, industrial, shopping center, data center, and hotel properties, as well as land for development.

Zoe received her J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law, where she simultaneously earned her M.A. in African American Studies. While in law school, she served as the Co-Chair for the Black Law Students Association and the Director of Affordable Housing for the UCLA Graduate Students Association.

Maria drafts and reviews purchase and sale agreements, loan agreements and closing documents for investment funds, institutional investors and developers on real estate transactions, including joint ventures, acquisitions, financings, developments and dispositions. She also advises on lease agreements.
While in law school, Maria was a member of the International Human Rights Law Clinic for multiple semesters, where she worked to pass local resolutions in both the cities of Berkeley and San Francisco based on international human rights principles. She also participated in the East Bay Community Law Center’s Community Economic Justice Clinic.
Maria is also passionate about diversity and recruitment efforts. She served as the recruitment chair for La Alianza’s Law Student Association as well as an Admissions Ambassador at Berkeley Law. Now she is an active member of Orrick’s Latinx Attorneys inclusion network.
