Nina Brox has been practicing bond law since 2005 as a member of Orrick's nationally recognized Public Finance department. Her practice focuses on tax-exempt financings for healthcare borrowers as well as Mello-Roos special tax bonds and assessment bonds. She also acts as bond counsel or underwriter's counsel for other 501(c)(3) borrowers.

As part of Orrick's renowned healthcare team, Nina advises on tax-exempt and conduit bond- and taxable direct issue- transactions, as well as certificates of participation and related credit enhancement for healthcare borrowers, including Cedar-Sinai Health System, Palomar Health, Phoenix Children's Hospital and Adventist Health System.

Nina qualified as a solicitor of England & Wales in 2005 and practiced in the area of cross-border securitization, bespoke debt financing and derivatives for nearly a decade in London and Paris before joining the Orrick team in 2019.

  • Nina also acts as bond counsel to the California Statewide Communities Development Authority in respect of stand-alone land-secured transactions and the Authority’s Statewide Community Infrastructure Program (SCIP), advising both on assessment district and community facilities district financings. Since its inception, SCIP has issued over $1 billion in limited obligation improvement bonds and special tax bonds for development projects in California and Nina manages the issuance of three SCIP bond series per year.

    In addition, Nina currently serves as part of the bond counsel team for the State of Alaska, the Alaska Municipal Bond Bank Authority, the Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority, and the Alaska Energy Authority.
