Lauren has extensive experience advising clients on compliance with environmental and natural resources laws, including:

Prior to Orrick, she was Assistant General Counsel at Xcel Energy, serving as lead environmental counsel for their solar, wind, energy storage, electric generation and transmission projects; an enforcement attorney at the EPA; and an advisor to an independent oil and gas company on exploration, production and development. At the EPA, she enforced environmental laws and regulations and ensured state hazardous waste programs met federal requirements.

Ned Hirschfeld Senior Associate

Ned focuses on appellate litigation. He has authored successful merits briefs and petitions for certiorari in the U.S. Supreme Court, as well as dozens of briefs in federal and state appellate courts. Ned's work has covered a wide range of subject areas, including patent, constitutional law, and complex commercial litigation.  He has also counseled Fintech clients on novel issues confronting the industry.

Ned maintains an active pro bono practice focused on immigration and criminal justice matters, including a successful appeal in the Second Circuit that vacated an arbitrary change to the meaning of "moral turpitude" under the Immigration and Nationality Act.

Megan has worked on a diverse range of other complex litigation matters, including contract disputes, civil RICO actions, and insurance insolvency proceedings,

Megan also maintains a robust pro bono practice, and has assisted in representing clients in matters related to the compassionate release program for federal prisoners, drafting a petition for habeas corpus and clemency petition for a state prisoner, and in bringing a class action suit challenging agency violations of law and policy on behalf of disabled asylees. He also managed the office’s regulatory investigations and enforcement actions, including playing a leadership role in every significant multistate enforcement matter handled by state regulators during his tenure. Additionally, Jedd oversaw numerous successful legislative and regulatory initiatives.

Prior to that, Jedd served as Counsel and Senior Policy Advisor at the U.S. House of Representatives, where he developed policy and legislative agendas in the areas of housing and financial services, small business and minority business.
