Abby has authored briefs in the U.S. Supreme Court, federal courts of appeals, and federal and state trial courts. She specializes in communicating complex technological concepts to judges of all backgrounds, and her work spans a wide range of topics and industries—from cutting-edge patent issues to the intricacies of the DMCA.
Abby also represents internet and digital media companies in litigation related to online speech, with a particular focus on Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act. Her recent successes include arguing and winning a Ninth Circuit appeal raising novel state action issues.
Prior to joining Orrick, Abby served as a law clerk to Judge Timothy B. Dyk of the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Prior to joining Orrick, he had been a lawyer with one of the big 4 firms in Düsseldorf, where he focused on venture capital. During his studies, Kjell had been a research associate with a Berlin-based venture capital boutique for several years.

Before joining Orrick, Nick clerked for the Honorable Michelle T. Friedland of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the Honorable Jon S. Tigar of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. During law school, Nick was a member of the Stanford Supreme Court Litigation Clinic, where he co-drafted merits-stage briefs in Holguin-Hernandez v. United States (2020) and Seila v. CFPB (2020), and co-drafted the successful certiorari petition in Lange v. California (2021).

Additionally, Danielle has counseled clients on antitrust risk allocation in transaction agreements, pre-closing activities including information exchanges, pricing and sales practices, trade association activity, the establishment of antitrust compliance policies and the preparation of responses to government-issued civil investigative demands and subpoenas in antitrust investigations. With more than two decades practicing as an antitrust counselor, she has advised clients on antitrust matters in an extensive range of industries, including energy, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, personal care, software, retail and telecommunications.

Lars has represented clients before the European Commission and the German Federal Cartel Office in all areas of competition law, inter alia including mergers, compliance, cartels, litigation and abuse of dominance.
In these areas, he provides companies with innovative solutions on high-profile complex matters including private damages actions and cartel investigations, often involving multiple jurisdictions.
Lars also pursues international trade and compliance matters, including matters involving foreign investment filings in Germany.

Eric counsels private and public companies, including private equity funds, on the tax aspects of their most important business transactions, including domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, investments, joint ventures, and restructurings. In particular, Eric has significant experience with the tax matters most critical to clients in the technology and life science sectors. Eric also has significant experience advising clients on equity and other compensation tax matters, real estate tax matters and tax controversy matters.
