Ms. Elizabeth Lefever, of counsel in the Silicon Valley office, is a member of the Technology Companies Group.
She focuses on high growth technology companies and represents both public and private companies and venture capital funds in many areas, including corporate and securities law, venture capital financings, mergers and acquisitions, public offerings, public company representation and private equity.Prior to joining Orrick, Elizabeth was of counsel with Clifford Chance and an associate at Brobeck Phleger and Harrison.
Yalan Lei, an associate in Orrick’s Shanghai office, is a member of the firm’s M&A and Private Equity Group.
Yalan’s practice focuses on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments, joint ventures and general corporate matters.
Yalan regularly represents Chinese major state-owned and private companies in acquisitions and sales of businesses, as well as strategic investments in the region. She is also experienced in advising multinational corporations on foreign direct investments and establishments of WFOEs (Wholly Foreign Owned Enterprises) in China.
She has represented clients from a wide range of industries, including real estate, financial services, technology, media and entertainment, consumer/retail, life science and healthcare.
Prior to joining Orrick, Yalan was an associate in the Shanghai office of a major PRC law firm.
Federico is an international arbitration lawyer, associate in Orrick's Milan office as a member of the Firm's Corporate Group. He has particular experience in arbitration and ligation of international commercial disputes, notably license agreements, post-M&A disputes and international trade, assisting market leader corporate clients active in a series of industries
Federico has participated in arbitration proceedings conducted under the ICC, Swiss Chambers and ICSID arbitration rules.
He was also recently involved in work on high-stake M&A transactions and contract negotiation.
Federico qualified as an Italian lawyer in 2013 and in 2015 he earned his Ph.D. in International Law at the University of Milan, authoring a thesis entitled “Provisional Measures in International Investment Arbitration” under the supervision of Professor Luigi Fumagalli.
He has been Visiting Researcher at Sciences Po’s Ecole de Droit and has authored publications in the field of international arbitration, both in Italy and abroad.
Prior to joining Orrick, Federico was an associate in an arbitration boutique law firm in Geneva and an associate in a leading Italian national law firm (Litigation/Arbitration Group).
Grace is a member of the Energy & Infrastructure group.
Grace counsels energy clients on a wide range of transactions in the energy industry with a particular focus on renewable energy and natural gas matters. Grace’s advises clients on mergers and acquisitions involving energy companies and assets and project development matters, including power purchase agreements and other long-term offtake agreements, physical and financial swaps, engineering, procurement and construction contracts, equipment supply and warranty agreements, and operation and maintenance agreements.
Mayling Leong is a senior associate in the Sacramento office and a member of the firm's nationally recognized Public Finance Department. Mayling has broad experience serving as bond counsel, disclosure counsel, underwriter's counsel and corporation's counsel in financings for 501(c)(3) borrowers, with a focus on the health care sector.
In addition, Mayling serves as issuer’s counsel to the California Statewide Communities Development Authority and the California Public Finance Authority for 501(c)(3) conduit financings, and as special counsel to the California State Treasurer’s Office in transactions for bonds insured through the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development’s Cal-Mortgage Loan Insurance Program.
Giovanni Leoni, a senior associate in the Milan Office, is a member of the Tax group. Giovanni specializes in Italian and international tax law and tax litigation. He has acquired extensive expertise in general corporate law and mergers and acquisitions.
Giovanni's previous work experience includes associate and partner at CBM & Partners LLP in Milan. Prior to joining CBM & Partners LLP, Giovanni worked as a trainee lawyer at Berenghi, Fiorini, Strobino in Milan.
Yves is a leading Energy and Infrastructure lawyer in France and abroad. He serves as head of the Paris firm's Infrastructure practice and head of the Africa practice.
Recognized by Chambers & Partners as a notable practitioner in International projects, Energy and Africa, Yves is praised for his “very good sector experience and knowledge”, as well as his “enormous negotiating skills”. With 30 years' experience in PPP, international infrastructure projects and power industry projects, Yves regularly advises operators in both the public and private sectors, government entities and financial institutions for operations in Europe, Africa and Latin America. Recently, he has led a cross-border multidisciplinary team to advise Actis, one of the largest and most active private equity firms operating in Africa, in its purchase of a majority interest in three power assets in Cameroon from Fortune 200 global power company AES Corporation.

Jean-Michel Leprêtre is an M&A lawyer, based in Orrick's Paris office. His practice focuses on advising French and foreign companies, commercial and investment banks, and other state-owned or private-sector firms on commercial and corporate-related transactional and litigation work.

Khai LeQuang represents financial institutions, technology companies, and other public and private companies in complex, high-stakes commercial disputes at both trial and appellate levels. He has won trials in state and federal courts, and is a prominent practitioner in the area of life settlements. Clients and judges praise Khai for his trial skills, strategic thinking, and innovative and practical solutions to complex legal problems.
Most recently, Khai second-chaired a trial team that successfully defended Union Carbide Corporation, a subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company, in an asbestos product liability action involving novel claims for fraud and civil conspiracy. Following a trial that lasted more than two months, the jury returned a defense verdict on all claims against Union Carbide, continuing a string of victories for the company. Khai continues to represent Union Carbide as national trial counsel, trying cases and developing strategies for hundreds of product liability actions across the country.
Khai also recently first-chaired a two-week bench trial in an action against a school district arising out of its allocation of $417 million in bond funds. The plaintiffs, led by a taxpayer association, sought $90 million for construction of a new school. After navigating a year-long political imbroglio and defeating plaintiffs’ summary judgment motions following a defense that Judge Pressman described as “brilliantly argued,” the case proceeded to a trial that resulted in a decision in favor of the district on all claims. The case is now on appeal.
Stephen Lessard, an associate in Orrick's New York office, is a member of the Tax Group. Steve focuses his practice on the taxation of debt and equity offerings, cross-border transactions, tax controversy, and municipal finance. He also has experience counseling nonprofit organizations on federal tax law and corporate governance.
Prior to joining Orrick, Steve was a Surface Warfare Officer in the U.S. Navy.
Tiffany C. Leung is an associate in Orrick's Intellectual Property Group located in Silicon Valley.
Tiffany represents individual and corporate clients in various civil matters involving trade secrets, copyright infringement, patent infringement, contract disputes, and complex litigation. Her matters span across different technological areas including, semiconductor manufacturing, NoSQL databases, and price management software. In addition to her IP practice, Tiffany also handles pro bono matters involving technology.
During law school, Tiffany was the Commentaries Editor for the Berkeley Technology and Law Journal, where she helped establish an online publication syndicate project with other leading technology law journals.
Cristine LeVasser is a Real Estate Associate in Orrick's Los Angeles office.
Cristine advises clients on commercial real estate transactions including joint venture structuring and construction, development and lease agreements. She joined Orrick in 2016 as a Summer Associate. Prior to attending law school, Cristine was a designer and project manager at a Los Angeles-based architecture firm, where she oversaw the design and construction of retail, corporate office and residential projects of various scales.
