Katherine Kopp represents prominent tech clients in high stakes patent appeals before the Federal Circuit. 

Katherine has focused on these high stakes appeals since she began her career at Orrick in 2010.  In that time, she has represented clients such as Dow AgroSciences LLC in two Federal Circuit victories in an ongoing patent dispute with Bayer CropScience AG; VeriFone Systems, Inc., in a successful appeal from a district court order that would have undermined its ubiquitous payment terminals; Nintendo Co. in defense of its most important product―the Wii; and EMC Corp. in obtaining the definitive pre-America Invents Act opinion addressing the improper use of joinder in patent cases.

Christine M. Kosir, an attorney at Orrick's Global Operations and Innovation Center in Wheeling, WV, manages the firm's Auditor Response Team.

Christine utilizes her extensive project management experience to work with Orrick team members in developing, implementing and managing the firm's overall audit response program.

Randy Kozel is a professor of law at Notre Dame Law School and an Associated Law Professor in Orrick’s Supreme Court and Appellate Litigation practice.

Randy was named the Distinguished Teacher of the Year by the Notre Dame Law School Class of 2014. He also runs the Notre Dame Program on Constitutional Structure.

Randy teaches and researches in fields including constitutional law, federal courts, information privacy, and contract law, with a particular focus on the role of precedent in legal decision making. His recent scholarship exploring the connection between precedent and interpretive philosophy has been published or is forthcoming in journals including the Michigan Law Review, the California Law Review, the Vanderbilt Law Review, and the Texas Law Review. His forthcoming book, entitled Settled Versus Right: A Theory of Precedent, makes the case for using precedent to bridge interpretive disagreements.

Randy received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Harvard Law School, where he was the Articles Committee Chair of the Harvard Law Review. He served as a law clerk for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony M. Kennedy and for Judge Alex Kozinski at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit. He has also practiced as a litigator with a large law firm and as Special Counsel to the General Counsel at General Electric Company.

Randy is admitted to practice in California and provisionally admitted in Indiana.

Margaretha Kramer, née Lawrynowicz, is a Managing Associate in the Düsseldorf office and a member of the International Arbitration Group.

Margaretha advises and represents clients in national state court and international arbitration proceedings. She furthermore acts as Administrative Secretary for Arbitral Tribunals under the ICC and DIS Rules and has extensive experience with disputes under the ICC, ICDR, ICSID, DIS and the LCIA Arbitration Rules.

Margaretha’s practice focuses on corporate, construction, distribution and energy law matters. Her experience further extends to post M&A disputes, the determination of FRAND rates in license agreements in the telecommunications sector, gas price revision in long term contracts in the LNG sector as well as layer structured insurance policies in transactional matters.

Margaretha regularly publishes on topics related to international arbitration, particularly with a focus on post M&A disputes. She frequently appears as speaker at seminars.

James N. Kramer leads Orrick's Securities Litigation Practice. Jim has more than 25 years of experience defending companies, officers and directors in shareholder class actions, derivative suits and regulatory proceedings.

Jim is acknowledged by Chambers as a "Leader in Their Field" for Securities Litigation and has also been acknowledged as one of "America's Leading Litigators" by Benchmark Litigation. Rich's practice covers all aspects of the litigation and dispute resolution process--from advising clients on whether to file suit, to resolving disputes through trial or settlement, and everything in between.  Rich's dogged determination, creativity, and relentless commitment to winning has repeatedly resulted in successful resolutions for his clients.  

Rich began his career with Irell & Manella in Los Angeles and also spent time with a litigation boutique in Houston before joining Orrick in 2018.  Rich lives in Newport Beach with his wife Rachel and his daughter Olivia.
