Shane D. Anderson Senior Associate

Shane has experience working on patent disputes in Federal Court and before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board for globally-recognized companies in the domains of software, communications, consumer electronics, and other high-tech fields.  He understands what it takes to be successful in complex patent litigation and wields his unique experience and education to gain the best result possible for his clients.  Prior to joining Orrick's Intellectual Property Group Shane practiced in Silicon Valley as an associate at a global law firm and focused on patent litigation.

Prior to law school, Shane was an electrical engineer and worked both in Japan and Canada, developing test systems, embedded hardware, and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) software.  Shane also worked as an educator in rural Japan, an experience that informs his ability to explain complex topics both clearly and persuasively.

Shane also has a passion for community service and pro bono representation.  Among his efforts, he assisted with the representation of plaintiffs in a Voting Rights Act, Section 2, litigation, and advised a small business owner and drafted agreements and contracts.

Robin works closely with the Corporate business unit and practice group leaders with regard to business management, financial and strategic planning, operation of the business unit and lawyer recruiting. She joined Orrick in 2011 as part of the Orrick Analytics Team. Robin joined the CPO team in 2013 and has held many roles in this capacity, most recently as the Deputy Chief Practice Officer for the Energy & Infrastructure Business Unit. Prior to joining Orrick, Robin had a career in social work.

She brings a deep understanding of what drives innovative companies and a market reputation for efficiently and effectively getting intellectual property transactions and other complex commercial deals done.

Colleen counsels companies at all stages, from startups to Fortune 100, on the technology license and development agreements that drive their businesses, the strategic alliances that grow their industry relationships, and any other technology- and IP-driven agreements that are needed so companies can meet their business goals.

Colleen has extensive experience drafting and negotiating a wide variety of complex commercial agreements, including: intellectual property and data licenses; software development and license agreements; IT-focused services agreements, including consulting, development, hosting, and various “as-a-service” agreements; manufacturing and distribution agreements; joint venture and joint development agreements; and technology and intellectual property acquisition and disposition agreements. She also provides advice in connection with intellectual property and technology matters attendant to M&A and other corporate transactions.

She brings deep experience in the mobility technologies space, from connected vehicles and their supporting IT platforms to clean fuel technologies. She also has extensive experience in semiconductor design and fabrication, satellites and space technologies, telecommunications, and adtech.

Sarah Davis Counsel

Sarah has particular expertise defending challenges to overdraft fees, including challenges to authorize positive, settle negative (“APSN”) transactions, and has represented Capital One, U.S. Bank, First Hawaiian Bank, and Union Bank in putative class actions challenging APSN fees. Separately, Sarah has defended two large national banks in enforcement actions related to overdraft fees and obtained a non-public resolution of voluntary remediation.

Sarah also has a robust practice defending both small and large companies against allegations of food mislabeling. She has successfully defended or reached favorable settlement terms regarding challenges to “all natural,” “no sugar added,” and “non-GMO” claims.

Frederic Lalance Partner

Frédéric assists his clients in litigation arising from commercial, industrial and financial disputes, corporate law and insolvency proceedings, both before the French courts and in multi-jurisdictional cases – notably in Africa before the courts of OHADA jurisdictions.

He also assists his clients in international arbitration and alternative dispute resolution proceedings.

Frédéric advises French and foreign groups in investigations by administrative or judicial authorities involving bribery and corruption issues. He has deep experience in internal investigations (national and cross-border), and in the implementation of compliance programs.

Ashley Fletcher Project Attorney

Ashley works with litigation attorneys and third party vendors to manage the review and production of documents relevant to investigations and litigation. This work includes using early case assessment technology to analyze, categorize and cull data. She also manages teams of skilled professionals performing document review, redaction, analysis, production and drafting privilege logs. Ashley assists the litigation team to prepare for trial, including drafting deposition summaries, factual memoranda and exhibit charts. She also works with practice office attorneys on transactional tasks, including contract review and due diligence.

Dan is experienced in Hatch-Waxman litigation, including disputes involving drug treatments for cancer and HIV. Dan is also experienced in biologics litigation and counseling, representing clients on matters involving expression vectors, antibodies, gene therapies, and CAR T-cell therapies. Dan’s experience includes litigating patents directed to recombinant DNA technology, complex manufacturing processes, small molecule compounds, crystalline forms, methods of treatment, oral dosage formulations, injectable formulations, and fixed dose combination products.
