Dr. Lynch's practice centers on representing clients involved in patent litigation and appeals, as well as U.S. Patent and Trademark Office post-grant proceedings. His experience encompasses numerous aspects of the life sciences, including small and large molecule pharmaceuticals, cellular immunotherapies, medical devices, and diagnostics. He has represented biopharmaceutical clients of all sizes, from start-ups to multinational corporations.
Dr. Lynch also counsels clients on pre-litigation strategies relating to their intellectual property, offering advice on matters including patentability, freedom-to-operate, patent prosecution and portfolio management, and licensing.
Dr. Lynch received his J.D. from Loyola Law School, where he graduated #1 in the evening program and top 5% overall while working for another international law firm.
Before law school, Dr. Lynch earned his Ph.D. in cell biology from Columbia University. His dissertation examined the biophysical aspects of cellular motility using advanced microscopy and imaging techniques.

Patrick has represented a number of clients in high-stakes litigation, including bankruptcy proceedings for the cities of Stockton, CA and Vallejo, CA, which received extensive press coverage. Patrick has also represented the California Insurance Commissioner in numerous matters, including the conservation and liquidation of insolvent insurance companies.
Additionally, Patrick has represented start-up clients in nationwide regulatory and legislative campaigns in conjunction with Orrick's Public Policy Group and has also worked with Orrick's Appellate Group on multiple cases before the Ninth Circuit and Supreme Court.
Silicon Valley
In addition to her litigation and arbitration practice, Melinda counsels clients on litigation avoidance strategies and on California’s complex employment laws.
She is a fellow of The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. Chambers USA has named Melinda one of the leading U.S. lawyers for employment law since 2007, noting her “straightforward courtroom style which endears her to juries.” She is consistently named as one of the top labor and employment lawyers and top women litigators in California. Melinda is a frequent speaker on employment law topics.
Paris
Admitted to practice in Paris and New York, Maxence brings an international perspective to his practice, focusing on aspects of French and EU competition law, including both transactional and litigation cases : merger control, antitrust, and state aid. He also has experience in the field of French restrictive and unfair practices.
Prior to joining Orrick as an associate, Maxence was a legal intern in a San Francisco-based law firm specialized in business immigration law. He previously interned with the Directorate General for Competition of the European Commission and with the energy department of Becker Büttner Held (Brussels office).

Kevin’s experience includes various general obligation and revenue bond financings, including those relating to transportation, multi-family housing, higher education, public power, sewer and water, and hospitals.
He has extensive knowledge and experience with federal securities laws issues in public finance, including both initial and continuing disclosure issues, material events disclosure, public statements liability, public offerings and private placements and other matters.
Kevin is a frequent speaker at conferences, seminars and webinars given by trade and professional organizations within the public finance industry.
Prior to entering private practice, Kevin was an Assistant Corporation Counsel in the Municipal Finance Division of the New York City Law Department.

Genet supports firm efforts to increase efficiencies across practice groups, connecting Orrick attorneys with teams, tools and resources to support their work.

Genet’s practice previously focused on a variety of energy transactions as a managing associate in the firm's Energy & Infrastructure group. She has also worked as Senior Counsel at Clearway Energy and as a Legal Manager at Acumen, a non-profit global venture fund.
Austin
Rachael has represented clients in multiple cases before the United States Supreme Court, as well as federal and state appellate courts across the country. She has argued before the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the Army Court of Criminal Appeals.
Prior to joining Orrick, Rachael clerked for the Honorable Denny Chin of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. She graduated with Honors from The University of Texas School of Law, where she was champion in moot court, Chief Articles Editor for The Review of Litigation, a research assistant, a teaching assistant, and a member of the Supreme Court Clinic. She received her Bachelor’s degree from The University of Arkansas, where she developed her nationally recognized research on political rhetoric.

Albert represents a wide range of clients, working with project sponsors, lenders, export credit agencies and funds on market-leading energy and infrastructure projects in Europe and Asia.
Prior to joining Orrick, Albert was a Managing Associate at a Magic Circle firm. Albert has also worked in-house for a large global mining company.

She provides tactical guidance on managing the complete life cycle of corporate, supply chain, and technology agreements.

Christine utilizes her extensive project management experience to work with Orrick team members in developing, implementing and managing the firm's overall audit response program.
In addition to her firm responsibilities, Christine works with Orrick's Finance teams on various transactional matters, including performing due diligence and drafting deal documents and opinions for collateralized loan and debt obligations, synthetic collateralized debt obligations and various other financial products.

Rachel works with litigation attorneys and third party vendors to manage the review and production of documents relevant to investigations and litigation. This work includes using early case assessment technology to analyze, categorize and cull data. She also manages teams of skilled professionals performing document review, redaction, analysis, production and drafting privilege logs. Rachel assists the litigation team to prepare for trial, including drafting deposition summaries, factual memoranda and exhibit charts.
Prior to joining Orrick, Rachel was an associate at a premier litigation and labor boutique law firm in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where she managed multiple complex litigation e-discovery projects.
Additionally, Rachel serves as the District 2000 President of GBU Life, a Pennsylvania nonprofit, member-owned, fraternal benefit society that strives to give back to its members, community, and charitable causes.

With almost 20 years’ experience, Jessie has advised clients in the private equity, insurance, banking, technology, energy (including nuclear), hospitality, and luxury goods industries, including Antin Infrastructure, AXA REIM and AIG on, amongst others, the consequences of Brexit, transfer pricing audit issues, intellectual property rights, stock option incentives packages, management compensation schemes and structuring multinational joint ventures. Jessie offers clients strategic tax planning and is adept at liaising with the relevant authorities to minimize the risk of litigation and, when necessary, assists clients in litigation proceedings both before the French courts.
Jessie is “an excellent lawyer” “highly skilled” and “an exceptional team leader who thinks out of the box” (Client Commentary, Legal 500 EMEA) as well as being a Highly Regarded Practitioner (ITR World Tax, 2023); the Thomson Reuters Foundation also nominated her as Lawyer of the Year for pro bono. Jessie previously served as the deputy office leader of Orrick's Paris office. Before joining Orrick Jessie worked for one of the leading auditing and consulting services firms in the world and the Paris office of two multinational law firms.
