Julia Schmitz is associate in the Düsseldorf office and member of the M&A and Private Equity Group.
She advises national and international clients on M&A/Private Equity transactions, intragroup cross-border restructuring measures and general corporate law. She joined Orrick in 2015.
Yann Schneller is an international arbitration and litigation lawyer in Orrick's Paris office. His practice focuses on complex commercial, investment, and construction disputes.
Yann has extensive experience in assisting French and international energy majors, investors as well as States and governments in various jurisdictions across Europe, Africa and the United States with a particular emphasis on disputes relating to the energy sector.
He represents and advises clients in ICC, ICSID, CCJA-OHADA and UNCITRAL ad hoc arbitral proceedings. Yann also acts as Administrative Secretary to arbitral tribunals.
Yann is implicated in pro bono work in North African countries.
Prior to joining Orrick, Yann was a legal intern at the OECD in Paris and at Gide Loyrette Nouel’s Hanoi office.
Lauren Schnepper is an associate in the Washington, D.C., office and a member of the firm's Litigation practice group.
Lauren represents clients in federal and state courts across a variety of industries and through all stages of litigation. Additionally, she has experience representing technology and media companies on antitrust issues before antitrust enforcers. Lauren maintains an active pro bono practice with a focus on advocacy in the area of K-12 education.
While in law school, Lauren was a member of the UVA Law Supreme Court Clinic team that helped represent the petitioner in Culbertson v. Berryhill, 586 U.S. 304 (2019), a case in which the United States Supreme Court unanimously ruled for the petitioner. Lauren also was the Vice President of the Public Interest Law Association. Before law school, Lauren was a North Carolina Teaching Fellow and taught high school mathematics.
Michael Schrader is a member of Orrick’s nationally-recognized Public Finance Department. Mike works with state agencies, local governments, tribal governments and enterprises, and for-profit and not-for-profit borrowers in structuring, negotiating and documenting bond issues, loans and other financing arrangements.
Mike also represents banks and underwriters in connection with the purchase and sale of bonds and other financing and credit-related matters.
A significant portion of Mike’s practice is devoted to private activity bond financings. This includes representing Oregon Housing and Community Services and Oregon Facilities Authority in connection with their conduit revenue bond programs. Over the course of his more than 20 years as a bond attorney in Oregon, he has competed dozens of project financings throughout the State with a variety of public and private sponsors, developers and funders.
Mike received the Firm's Community Responsibility Award in 2011 in recognition of his community service and pro bono work. He currently serves on the Boards of Bridge Meadows, a developer, owner and operator of affordable intergenerational housing communities, and the Portland Housing Center, an organization providing educational and financial services to promote homeownership in underserved communities. He also serves as special counsel (pro bono) to Mercy Corps in connection with its Community Investment Trust (CIT) Program.
Before joining Orrick, Mike was a partner at Ater Wynne LLP in Portland. Prior to that, Mike was an associate at Ice Miller in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Julius Schradin is an associate in the Düsseldorf office and a member of the Antitrust and Competition Practice Group.
Julius advises domestic and international clients on German and European competition law and international trade law, including foreign investment filings in Germany, as well as on compliance matters. Before he joined Orrick at the Düsseldorf Office, Julius worked on multi-jurisdictional cartel and merger cases during his legal training inter alia at the Directorate-General for Competition of the European Commission. His interest in competition law dates back to his university studies in Heidelberg.
Dr. Christian Schröder heads Orrick's IP/IT & Data Privacy Practice Group in Germany in Orrick’s Düsseldorf Office. Christian advises medium sized (Mittelstand) companies to large multinationals on IP, Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices, E-Commerce, IT and Data Privacy/Data Protection.
He is listed in Germany's leading lawyer ranking magazine JUVE as frequently recommended data privacy expert and clients recommend him to JUVE for his "reliable and actionable advice". Christian and his practice are also ranked by The Legal 500 Germany and The Legal 500 EMEA as well as Germany’s business journals WiWo and Handelsblatt for being among the leading German and European IT and data privacy practices (2019 and 2020), clients referred to him and his team as "Top data privacy expert", "extremely knowledgeable", and "able to explain complex legal issues in an easily understandable way so that both legal and economic decisions can be made". Christian provides IP/IT advice in M&A transactions and advises on IP focused joint ventures. He supports companies on the set-up of webshops, outsourcings, license agreements, in cases of trademark or unfair and deceptive trade practice issues as well as on hard and software license and IT project agreements.
As a core member of Orrick's global Cyber, Privacy & Data Innovation practice, Christian has a special focus on data privacy/data protection matters. In particular, Christian advises on privacy compliance programs, a risk-based approach to privacy, on implementing databases and new software applications, in particular, cloud based solutions. He advises on IT and data privacy contracts, internal data privacy policies, binding corporate rules, user agreements on BYOD, whistleblowing schemes, e-discovery, security breaches, and intra-group data sharing on a national and international basis. Christian regularly represents market leading clients in IT and data privacy contract negotiations and regularly defends companies against unfair access to their know-how by competitors and against unfair poaching of customers and employees.
Dr. Stefan Schultes-Schnitzlein is a tax partner in the Düsseldorf office. Stefan is both qualified as a German lawyer (Rechtsanwalt) and as a German tax advisor (Steuerberater).
Stefan is listed as frequently recommended in Germany's leading lawyer ranking magazine JUVE Handbook of German Commercial Law Firms (2017/2018). Clients recommend Stefan for his work and say that he "can convey complicated facts convincingly, does not expand teams unnecessarily ".

He advises industry clients, private equity funds and financial institutions on all sorts of German tax and accounting issues. Stefan's focus lies on corporate and real estate transactions, financings and re-financings and restructurings as well as on tax field audits and tax litigation in connection with any of the former. He also advises individual persons on succession and related issues. Prior to his move to Orrick in the beginning of 2014, Stefan has been with international law firms for eight years.
In addition, Stefan advises international businesses in international trade and compliance matters with a focus on import, export and passing of goods through Germany and their tax and customs implications.
Sachi is a member of Orrick's Supreme Court and Appellate practice.
Prior to joining Orrick, Sachi clerked for Justice Leondra Kruger of the California Supreme Court and Judge Kenneth Ripple of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Before law school, Sachi worked in documentary film production. She currently serves as a lecturer in Entertainment Law at the University of California, Berkeley.

Verena is Managing Associate in our Munich office and member of the practice group M&A and Private Equity. Verena advises national and international clients on all aspects of corporate law with a focus on domestic and cross-border M&A and Private Equity transactions, corporate restructurings as well as ongoing legal advice.
Prior to joining Orrick, Verena worked as Associate at the Munich office of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP.
Dr. Hans Felix Schäfer, Counsel in Orrick's Düsseldorf office, is a member of the Real Estate Group.
Felix has particular experience in the infrastructure and logistics sectors, where he has been focused on real estate transactions, structuring of real estate investments, fund counseling and private equity as well as restructuring of real estate financings. He has also advised on a series of diverse large scale project developments as well as (portfolio) transactions for German and international clients.
Felix previously worked at international law firms Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and DLA Piper UK LLP. He served as inhouse counsel with ProLogis Germany Management GmbH and spent two years with HFK Law Offices. Most recently, he was an associated partner with independent German law firm Graf von Westphalen.
Felix attended the University of Cologne, where he received his doctorate degree. He has been acknowledged as "frequently recommended" in the field of Real Estate by JUVE Handbook of German Law Firms (2012/2013) and is member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
