Alfred represents major corporate purchasers and developers in negotiating renewable energy PPAs. His advice helps buy-side clients to reduce their energy costs and meet their clean energy targets. He also advises developers in securing long-term project revenues by structuring and negotiating bankable PPAs. His experience covers all major European jurisdictions, including Spain, the Netherlands, Poland, France, Germany, Sweden, Italy and the UK.
Alfred’s experience also extends to grid connection arrangements, energy storage, energy regulation and other energy transition matters.
Prior to joining Orrick, Alfred was a Senior Legal Director at a leading solar developer and, before that, was the EMEA Region Lead for Energy at Amazon Web Services, the world’s largest buyer of renewable energy. He also spent nearly a decade at an international law firm, assisting clients in meeting their net-zero climate targets.
He counsels clients nationwide on complex financial transactions and restructurings, including secured and unsecured loan transactions, project financings, leveraged buy-outs, dividend recapitalizations and insolvency matters.
In the California Banking & Finance category of Chambers USA, clients commend Alan, describing him as “a guru for gaming work" and noting “his extensive financing practice includes particular expertise in lending transactions involving Native American tribes.”
In addition to his practice responsibilities, Alan has held numerous firmwide positions, including recently as a member of Orrick's Board of Directors and as practice group leader of the firm’s Banking & Finance group. He was the Chair of the Firm’s Finance and Audit Committee from 2010 through 2019.
Tamir’s practice focuses on a range of transactional matters involving intellectual property and innovative technologies, with an emphasis on advanced software applications as well as life sciences. Tamir has significant experience and counsels clients on structuring and negotiating complex technology commercialization agreements, such as SaaS and other software agreements, medical device and pharmaceutical royalty arrangements, and other general corporate and technology dealings.
Prior to joining Orrick, Tamir was an associate in the Technology Transactions Group at Morrison & Foerster in Silicon Valley, where he maintained a technology practice focused on cross-border transactions involving emerging-growth companies and venture capital, and advising startups on their operations, acquisition and exit strategies.
His background in economics, Chinese language skills and extensive international experience add to his excellent legal knowledge and allow him to advise his clients on a comprehensive basis.
Lars has represented clients before the European Commission and the German Federal Cartel Office in all areas of competition law, inter alia including mergers, compliance, cartels, litigation and abuse of dominance.
In these areas, he provides companies with innovative solutions on high-profile complex matters including private damages actions and cartel investigations, often involving multiple jurisdictions.
Lars also pursues international trade and compliance matters, including matters involving foreign investment filings in Germany.
