Julia has represented many tech and retail clients, including Lyft, SpaceX, PayPal, GitHub, Splunk, TaskRabbit, Unity Technologies and Williams-Sonoma, Inc. Julia and her Orrick partner Lynne Hermle won the 2017 California Lawyer of the Year award in Labor and Employment from California Lawyer for their defense verdict for SpaceX in a high profile sex harassment, discrimination, retaliation and disability case. The Daily Journal also named their two jury trial wins for SpaceX as top verdicts in 2016 and 2017, both affirmed on appeal. Orrick was named Employment Group of the Year in 2018 and 2019 by Law360 and The Recorder has named Orrick the "Litigation Department of the Year: Labor and Employment" in California four times.
Julia is also the Office Leader of the Orrick Silicon Valley office, loves animal rescue and drinks lots of coffee.
Juliano Banuelos chairs Orrick’s Compensation & Benefits Group and focuses on advising public companies and mature private companies on executive compensation and related fiduciary duty and governance matters.
Mr. Banuelos’ representative clients include Ancestry.com, Apollo Education Group, Inc. (the University of Phoenix), Cisco Systems, Inc., Gap, Juniper Networks, Keysight Technologies, Kimpton Hotels, Levi Strauss, Oracle Corporation, Varex Imaging Corporation, Varian Medical Systems and Williams-Sonoma. Juliano is also a leader in providing compensation advice in mergers and acquisitions and regularly serves as special M&A tax counsel to in-house tax and HR departments.
In addition to being a recognized practitioner on IRC Section 409A, Juliano provides advice on the full range of compensation and benefits issues that arise ranging from designing and implementing equity-based, employment, separation, deferred compensation, change in control and similar arrangements to providing advice with respect to the design and legal compliance of qualified retirement plans, nonqualified deferred compensation plans and welfare plans.
Mr. Banuelos also advises companies on all aspects of the securities laws relating to such arrangements.

Julianne, a Managing Associate in Orrick’s New York office, is a member of the firm's M&A and Private Equity Group.
Julianne advises public and private technology, energy and life sciences companies and private investment funds and their portfolio companies in a broad range of strategic transactions, including debt and equity investments, acquisitions and dispositions and other complex transactions. Julianne also counsels domestic and international issuers in public offerings of equity securities and SEC compliance matters.
Julie Gorchkova is a managing associate in the New York Office and a member of the Complex Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice group.Ms. Gorchkova has represented a wide range of clients in federal and state trial and appellate courts, mediations and arbitrations in matters involving complex contractual disputes, federal securities laws, lender liability and debtor defense litigation, enforcement of notes and guarantees, fraud and other business torts, shareholder disputes and derivative litigation, commercial foreclosures, consumer fraud, broker-dealer disputes and judgment enforcement. She also has significant experience representing clients in bankruptcy-related litigation.
Julia (Julie) Houston's practice focuses on various aspects of traditional public finance and public/private project financing.Julie has served as bond counsel to various state agencies and local governmental entities, including, special districts, cities, counties and public facility corporations; as underwriter and bank counsel to financial institutions that underwrite and purchase tax-exempt and taxable governmental obligations; and as outside counsel to a public facility corporation that owns and operates a convention center hotel and to professional sports teams that lease bond financed sports venue facilities. Julie also has experience representing domestic banks that provide credit and liquidity facilities for tax-exempt financings. Prior to entering private law practice, Julie served as an assistant attorney general in the Public Finance Division of the Office of the Attorney General of the State of Texas.
Daeun Julie Lee is a litigation associate in Orrick's Orange County office.
Prior to joining Orrick, Julie was a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Dana M. Sabraw of the United States District Court for the Southern District of California. There, she handled a wide variety of civil matters including contract disputes, product liability, trade secrets, and securities litigation.
During law school, Julie received the American Jurisprudence award in Advanced Legal Research and was selected as a teaching assistant for courses in legal research, legal writing, and oral advocacy. She was also an executive editor of the California Law Review and co-president of Christians at Berkeley Law.
Julie has previously served as a board member for the Korean American Bar Association, volunteered at the California Asylum Representation Clinic, and helped start a nonprofit organization for children with autism spectrum disorder and Down syndrome.
Julie is an associate with the Public Policy Group in Orrick’s New York office.Julie helps clients facing state legislative and regulatory challenges develop and implement public policy campaigns across the country. As part of these efforts, she works with company representatives and lobbyists to develop state legislative strategies on complex issues, draft and provide testimony, create advocacy materials, and educate key stakeholders.

Julie Totten, who leads Orrick’s Global Employment Law and Litigation Practice Group, built her reputation by helping companies prevent and resolve their most challenging litigation and compliance issues in the employment law arena.
In doing so, Julie closely collaborates with each client, gathering an in-depth understanding of their specific tensions, challenges and objectives. Legal 500 noted she "truly understands corporate politics and works with in-house counsel to understand the intersections of legal advice and business objectives." Julie then draws upon nearly three decades of experience to guide clients towards the best possible resolution. Her client-focused approach is one of many reasons she was selected to lead Orrick’s global employment practice, which Chambers ranks as one of the country’s foremost practices and describes Julie as “a big thinker and a thought leader.”
Julie handles complex wage-and-hour class and collective actions, complex pay equity and promotion matters and discrimination and retaliation litigation. She also guides clients through sensitive investigations, as well as government agency audits and litigation. Julie is proactive in helping clients avoid litigation by assisting them with the development of policies and practices designed to minimize exposure.
Julie is honored to be a Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment and a member of the American Employment Law Council. She also serves as a Council Member of the American Bar Association Labor and Employment Law Section.
