Malik Idri Of Counsel Antitrust & Competition

Paris

Malik Idri is a Competition lawyer in Orrick's Paris office.

Malik practice focuses on French and European competition law, on both transactional and litigation cases: merger control, antitrust litigation before the French Competition Authority and the European Commission, as well as litigation cases before the administrative courts and State aid.

Malik is an abuse of dominant position specialist, with a particular focus on the telecommunication sector. He dedicated his doctoral thesis to the opening up of competition of the French phone network and he worked at the French sector regulator (ARCEP). He also has advised SFR on a number of litigation matters including the Orange’s sentence to pay the highest fine ever imposed by the French competition authority for abuse of dominant position.

Malik spent seven years at Clifford Chance where he also developed a deep knowledge of the distribution sector, in particular on suppliers and distributors’ relationships and private enforcement cases.  

Malik is a regular lecturer at the ESSEC, where he graduated and he regularly publishes articles.

John Inge Counsel Intellectual Property, Japan

John Inge is counsel in the Intellectual Property Group and resident in the Tokyo office. He has more than 30 years of patent and other intellectual property law experience divided between Japan and the United States.

John has experience handling matters involving a wide range of technologies, including semiconductor devices, consumer electronics, communications systems, computers and associated equipment, radar, optics (including fiber optics), medical and surgical devices, display systems, lighting devices, printing systems, electronic photography, energy storage devices and plastic molding technology. 

John's legal practice spans patent litigation, interferences, validity and infringement investigations, and negotiations and licensing involving all aspects of intellectual property. Joint venture and research and development agreements in an international context are a particular area of his focus. He frequently counsels clients in both the United States and Japan on patent portfolio management and intellectual property strategies.

John currently teaches a course on International Intellectual Property Strategy at Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo. He previously served on the adjunct faculty of George Mason University School of Law, teaching courses on interference practice and other advanced areas of U.S. PTO practice. He also taught international intellectual property law at Temple University Law School’s Tokyo campus. He also was the longest-serving chairman of the Board of Directors of Yokohama International School, one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious institutions of secondary international education, and he currently chairs the school’s Board of Trustees. John regularly lectures throughout the Pacific Rim on intellectual property law topics. He is also a frequent lecturer on U.S. patent practice at public and in-house seminars in Japan.

Yuko is a member of the Energy and Infrastructure Group. Her practice mainly focuses on M&A, project financing, and permits and authorizations of renewable energy projects. She also handles real estate transactions, environmental conservation and fintech matters.

As of November 2018, Yuko has conducted legal due diligence for clients on 26 solar projects (total 1244MW) and 24 wind projects (total 233MW) in Japan, including Japan’s largest solar project (235MW) and Japan’s largest wind project (121.6MW).  

Yuko has been appointed as special member of the Environmental Preservation Committee of the Japan Federation of Bar Associations every year since 2006.

Francesca Isgro Partner M&A and Private Equity, Public Finance

Francesca Isgrò, a Partner in the Rome office, is the responsible for the Administrative Law of the Italian Department and member of the Banking & Finance Group. Francesca has extensive experience in administrative law, with a special focus on public entities, public contract work, tenders, supplies and services, assistance and consulting in the event of litigation.

Throughout her career, Francesca has focused on administrative and public law. Parallel to her advisory work, she has been involved in litigation before both the administrative law and civil courts.

Her particular strengths are in general state-owned business and public agencies, utilities (gas, energy, waste, water and transport), public tenders and infrastructure, energy infrastructure projects, administrative, urban planning and environmental law, public sector real estate transactions.

She has also led development of the energy regulatory capability, supporting the transactional energy practice, particularly in renewable energy.

Francesca has lectured as teacher in several Master’s programs in "public procurements," organized by IPSOA and in several seminars in administrative law and urban planning at the University of Rome, La Sapienza. She also has lectured as teacher in several Master’s programs in the renewable energy field.
