Robert, associate at Orrick's Düsseldorf office, is member of Data Privacy and Technology Company Group in Germany. He focuses on counseling in the area of Data Privacy, IP/IT and mergers and acquisitions in this field.

Robert has always been fascinated by new technologies and the digitization. Following his fascination, he focused his legal studies on media law, intellectual property law and data protection law. Prior to working at Orrick he also gained experience by founding a company provided a software as a platform solution and working for a German venture capital investor. His legal advice in mergers and acquisitions or legal assessments regarding data privacy will thus reflect not only his legal expertise but also his experience and fascination for new technology. For our clients, he prepares, among other things, privacy policies or data processing agreements or is involved in conducting a due diligence or drafting a shareholders' agreement. Robert is also advising in GDPR readiness and general data privacy compliance and works on various aspects of trademark and competition law.

He joined Orrick in 2017, after working as a scientific researcher in the field of Data Privacy.

Adam heads Orrick's Energy Regulatory Group. He has been active in the energy industry for more than 35 years.

As Deputy Assistant General Counsel at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Adam was instrumental in the development of the federal programs and policies that fostered the independent power industry, and his experience includes representing independent power generators -- including some of the largest wind and solar projects in the United States -- as well as merchant transmission companies, traditional electric utility companies, before FERC, state utility commissions and NERC Regional Reliability Organizations.  

Adam also advises power project developers and financial institutions in transactions involving the development, financing, sale and purchase of energy projects, and he advises some of the largest U.S. companies in the development and implementation of FERC and NERC compliance programs.

Adam has authored many articles about the power industry in publications including Global Utilities Finance Report, International Power Finance Review, International Financial Law Review, Public Utilities Fortnightly, Electricity Journal and Energy Economist.

Rory is an international arbitration lawyer in Orrick’s Paris office. He focuses on commercial, investment, and construction disputes in the EMEA region.

Admitted as an Avocat at the Paris Bar and as a Solicitor of England and Wales, he is an MBA graduate from INSEAD (18J). He has particular experience in international trade and joint-venture contracts, M&A disputes, and investor-State arbitration.

Rory has participated in arbitral proceedings conducted under the ICC, SCC, SIAC, ICSID, Swiss Chambers and the DIAC arbitration rules. He has also acted as Administrative Secretary to arbitral tribunals.

Margaret Wheeler-Frothingham is a senior associate in the New York office. Her practice covers all aspects of copyright and trademark litigation, as well as counseling, licensing and prosecution.

While Margaret represents clients across a broad range of industries, her practice has a particular emphasis on the music, media and fashion industries. Margaret litigates copyright infringement actions and royalty rate setting proceedings – including before the Copyright Royalty Board, where she obtained one of only two royalty rate reductions ever granted in that court. Margaret represents digital music services, as well as other content users in negotiations and disputes with record labels, music publishers, photographers and other rights holders.

Margaret’s trademark practice includes representing fashion, hospitality and alcoholic beverage companies in trademark and trade dress infringement litigations in federal court and proceedings before the TTAB.

Steven White is a Public Finance lawyer based in Orrick’s Portland office.

Steven’s practice includes representing local and state government issuers, non-profit corporations, tribal governments, eligible borrowers and underwriters in connection with general obligation bond financings, revenue bond financings and lease financings.

Steven's recent transactions include serving as counsel to Red Rock Biofuels, a renewable energy producer, in the financing of an Oregon-based biofuels production facility through the issuance of $245,500,000 in revenue bonds through the Oregon Business Development Commission and serving a special counsel (pro bono) to Mercy Corps in connection with the launch of its Community Investment Trust micro-investing opportunity for residents of east Portland.  Steven also serves as bond counsel to the Oregon Department of Transportation, Oregon Housing and Community Services, the Oregon Facilities Authority and a number of Oregon municipalities.

Prior to joining Orrick, Steven worked in publishing in various roles including as a business publication editor, business-focused journalist and news reporter covering trends in various industries as well as municipal and state government, law enforcement and state and federal court matters.
