Janice Dow Associate Technology Transactions, Technology Companies Group

Janice Dow is an associate in the Technology Transactions and Licensing practice at Orrick, and a member of Orrick's Technology Companies Group.

Janice focuses on technology transactions, including drafting and negotiating commercial and intellectual property agreements. Janice has also provided general corporate counseling and closed venture capital financings, mergers and acquisitions.

Janice is also CIPP/US certified as an Information Privacy Professional by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). Before joining Orrick, Janice worked in the field of market research.

Rebecca focuses on mergers and acquisitions, gas and LNG sales arrangements and project development activities within the oil and gas industry.

Rebecca has significant experience of acting for a broad range of clients including IOCs, financial institutions and project companies on a variety of domestic and international upstream and midstream oil and gas transactions. Recently, she has been advising clients with interests in Africa, South America, Central Asia and the UKCS.

Tori Downey Associate Cyber, Privacy & Data Innovation, CCPA Readiness


Victoria ("Tori") Downey is an Associate in Orrick's internationally recognized Cyber, Privacy & Data Innovation practice group. Her practice focuses on the intersection of privacy, security and data management.

Tori partners with clients to navigate through the patchwork of global laws impacting privacy and cybersecurity. She also helps clients reduce the risk of privacy and security incidents.

Prior to joining Orrick, Tori served as an in-house data privacy & security law clerk at a pharmaceutical company in Boston, at a large non-profit corporation in New York City, and at an international oil and gas company in Beijing. She also worked on data privacy matters in the Office of the General Counsel of Northeastern University. Having worked across and within a broad array of industries, she brings an in-house perspective to her client matters.

Kyle Drefke Partner Energy, Infrastructure

Washington, D.C.

Kyle is a member of Orrick’s Board of Directors and the office leader in Washington, D.C. He focuses on advising energy clients in financing, project development, and corporate transactions.

Kyle has represented clients in domestic and international financings, including syndicated credit facilities, private placements, and registered securities offerings. He has extensive experience in the development and structuring of long-term power purchase agreements with respect to thermal (nuclear, coal and natural gas) and renewable generation facilities. He has also represented clients in mergers and acquisitions (M&A), auctions, joint ventures, corporate restructurings and other general corporate matters.

Kyle has represented clients in various matters relating to the development, construction, ownership and operation of electric generation facilities in the United States, South America and Europe. His practice also includes the representation of clients seeking and obtaining substantial financing from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).

Patrick's practice covers a range of corporate, venture capital and private equity transactions, with a focus on technology and intellectual property-rich companies.

Patrick’s experience includes formation and early-stage corporate counselling to later stage capital financing, M&A exits and management buy-outs. He has acted for founders, investors and management teams within the software, telecommunications, fintech, renewable energy and cleantech industries.

Prior to joining Orrick, Patrick worked for five years in the Global Corporate Practice Group at an international law firm, during which he was seconded to Live Nation Entertainment where he provided legal counsel to Ticketmaster on e-commerce, advertising and consumer-rights issues.

Deena O. Dulgerian Associate Complex Litigation & Dispute Resolution

Deena Dulgerian is an Associate in Orrick’s Los Angeles office and is a member of the Complex Litigation & Dispute Resolution group.  

She works on matters with diverse clients from start-ups to the NCAA and assists her group in representing property owners in connection with various disputes. Deena is also active in pro bono matters, most recently working with non-profits in her former community of Las Vegas on immigration and constitutional issues.

Prior to joining Orrick, Deena clerked for the Honorable Nancy J. Koppe in the United States District Court, District of Nevada, and while in law school she was the Co-Founder and President of the Armenian Law Students Association. She was a member of Georgetown’s Barrister’s Council’s Alternate Dispute Resolution division, a student attorney with Georgetown's Juvenile Justice Clinic, the Executive Editor for the Georgetown Journal on Poverty Law and Policy, and wrote for the Georgetown Law Technology Review.

Nathan Dullum Of Counsel Complex Litigation & Dispute Resolution, Mass Torts & Product Liability

San Francisco

Nathan is Of Counsel in The San Francisco office and a member of the firm's Complex Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice. Nathan has worked on a variety of litigation matters and currently focuses on mass torts and product liability.

Nathan is a member of the Orrick team representing Johnson & Johnson as national coordinating counsel and California trial counsel in lawsuits alleging that the company's talc products contain asbestos. In October 2019, Nathan was part of the trial team named as Law360 Legal Lions for its representation of Johnson & Johnson in a suit alleging the company’s talc products caused the plaintiff’s mesothelioma.  In addition to punitive damages, the plaintiffs sought at least $45 million in compensatory damages.  After a five-week trial, a Los Angeles state court jury rejected all of plaintiffs’ claims and returned a complete defense verdict for Johnson & Johnson.

Nathan has practiced before state and federal courts and has arbitrated matters before The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and the International Center for Dispute Resolution. In addition to litigating, Nathan also has extensive experience advising U.S. and foreign companies regarding product safety and product liability prevention.  This includes advising companies on their warnings and disclosures, developing internal compliance policies and protocols, and helping clients address customer complaints to avoid potential litigation.

Nathan joined Orrick as a summer associate in 2001. In 2007, he took a brief leave of absence to work as a prosecutor in the San Francisco County District Attorney’s Office where he tried several cases to verdict.

Daniel Dunne Partner White Collar, Investigations, Securities Litigation & Compliance, Complex Litigation & Dispute Resolution


Daniel Dunne, a partner in Orrick's Seattle office, is a member of the Litigation Division, specifically the Securities Litigation, Investigations and Enforcement Group.

Dan Dunne focuses his practice on defense of financial institutions, corporations, directors and officers, and accountants in complex litigation in federal and state courts. Dan has tried more than a dozen cases to verdict in state and federal courts.

Dan has enjoyed considerable success in high-profile national matters with the finest law firms in the country, from arguing in the Delaware Court of Chancery on behalf of Blucora’s directors, to arguing in October in the Washington Supreme Court on behalf of Credit Suisse on a critical issue of first impression under the Washington State Securities Act, to a complete victory following a two-week trial in the Western District of Washington in a major tax dispute against the United States and the Tulalip Tribes, dismissal of an activist investor proxy lawsuit against a Seattle-based bank, and an October 2018 dismissal of a National Rifle Association suit challenging a City of Seattle safe gun storage ordinance. Dan also has active matters advising Washington’s most sophisticated legal clients with respect to shareholder matters, including Microsoft, Seattle Genetics (Washington’s most successful independent biotechnology company) and HomeStreet Bank.

Dan has also been a key part of the winning Orrick team, leading the defense of Credit Suisse against an avalanche of litigation related to claims involving residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS).

Elise Durand Associate Antitrust & Competition


Elise Durand is a Competition lawyer in Orrick's Paris office.

Before joining Orrick, Elise was a legal intern in International law firms: in the Competition department at Norton Rose Fullbright and at Allen & Overy, in the Litigation & Regulatory department at DLA Piper. She was also a legal intern in the Cartel unit of the Directorate General for Competition at the European Commission and in the Europe Department of the MEDEF.
