Please join Orrick partner Jay Jurata at this year's Joint NGMN and ITU Conference on January 29-30 in Geneva, Switzerland.

Focusing on the development of 5G, the "Joint NGMN and ITU Conference on Licensing Practices in 5G Industry Segments" will facilitate sharing and discussing present-day licensing practices and related issues in different industry segments. The conference will discuss issues that stakeholders may need to be aware of or timely address, including:

  • Share licensors', licensees' and pool administrators' requirements on patent pools/platforms;
  • Proposed practices and conduct for licensors and licensees in a 5G environment;
  • Requirements for increasing transparency and assessing essentiality of SEPs in 5G; and
  • Key issues to be addressed in the coming years and how to resolve them.

Jay will be speaking on the panel "Overview on Standard Essential Patents (SEP) Licensing Practices," which will bring participants up-to-date on standard essential patents (SEPs), FRAND licensing commitments, and related issues regarding the diversity of the scope of FRAND licensing commitments, the diversity of open source software licenses and the availability of patent pools.

The Conference is free of charge.

Pre-registration is required before January 15, 2019.

Due to limited availability of seats, registration will be confirmed on a first come, first served basis.
