Technology Advancements and New Developments in the Law – The EU Perspective

Seminar | March.02.2016 | 8:45am - 10:45am (Pacific Standard Time)

Orrick Los Angeles (777 South Figueroa Street, Los Angeles, CA)

As technology advances, there is increased friction with existing privacy and data security laws. U.S. companies are increasingly using new technologies such as big data, facial recognition, cross device tracking and device fingerprinting to improve workforce performance and better protect systems and data.  Implementing these technologies presents special challenges in the EU, where the privacy regime affords individuals and employees greater protections.

Orrick partners Antony Kim, Dr. Christian Schröder and Kolvin Stone will discuss these advancements and how companies with a presence in the EU can implement these technologies in compliance with US and forthcoming EU privacy laws, and how global companies can navigate between the different rules cross border.

California and New York MCLE credit will be offered for this program.
