Shane McCammon Sr Litigation Career Associate

Shane is a member of our team representing financial institutions in complex, high-value litigation involving mortgage-backed securities in federal and state courts, at both the trial and appellate levels.  An experienced litigator, Shane also has represented institutional lenders and private-equity funds in commercial foreclosure proceedings and complex contractual disputes involving the investment banking, real estate, healthcare, and tech sectors, guiding clients through every stage of litigation. 

Prior to joining Orrick, Shane served for more than 12 years as an active-duty JAG, excelling in a variety of litigation and leadership roles.  She deployed to Afghanistan as part of a small multinational team tasked with mentoring the Afghan National Army.  As a senior defense counsel, Shane led a team of Air Force criminal defense attorneys in Europe and first-chaired more than 40 fully litigated felony jury trials, ranging from premeditated murder to computer crimes. She also has significant experience defending federal agencies in employment discrimination matters.  

Shane has a robust pro bono practice, where she focuses on LGBTQ+ and veterans issues.

Kathryn G. Mantoan Of Counsel

Katie was a part of the trial team that obtained a complete dismissal for Oracle in OFCCP v. Oracle, a high-stakes systemic compensation discrimination case that garnered national media attention. Katie and her co-counsel were named "Litigators of the Week" by American Lawyer for the win. Two years later, Katie and her co-counsel were named Runners-Up by American Lawyer for securing decertification of a 3,000-person putative equal pay class action for Oracle.

In fall 2023, Katie co-first chaired a two week federal jury trial in Oregon and obtained a verdict against the client's former general manager, who set up a competing business while employed, on claims for breach of fiduciary duty and intentional interference.

Previously, Katie received California Lawyer’s Attorney of the Year Award in 2016 and was named a Northern California Super Lawyers "Rising Star" for seven consecutive years. She regularly writes and publishes on employment law developments, having presented on topics to three separate state bar associations and a host of national and regional legal and academic conferences.

Katie started her career at Orrick in 2004 and returned in 2015. From 2011 to 2014, she was an associate at a litigation boutique in San Francisco where she handled employment and constitutional law matters.

Xiang Wang Partner

Xiang is a Guiding Expert of the China Overseas IP Dispute Response & Guidance Center.

Xiang has extensive experience in assisting local and foreign-based multinational companies with all aspects of their IP rights in the U.S. and China, including IP litigation and arbitration, patent infringement, industrial espionage, trade secret misappropriation, copyright and trademark infringement, ITC Sec. 337 investigations, patent office proceedings including inter partes reviews (IPR), IP due diligence and portfolio counseling, technology export control, mass torts and product liability, securities litigation, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and other investigations and compliance. These matters have implicated a vast array of technologies, from software and electronics to renewable energy and medical devices as well as agricultural and building materials, to name just a few.

Xiang also works extensively on cybersecurity investigations and data privacy compliance matters for both Chinese and international clients.

Xiang has been particularly active in Chinese state-owned enterprises related U.S. litigation. Clients turn to his strategic and innovative advice thanks to his in-depth understanding of their business needs and political risks. Clients appreciate that he “understood the environment in the China legal system and can give nuanced advice”.

Xiang has developed the region’s premier IP practice based on his reputation as one of the few IP lawyers who has a doctorate in electrical and computer engineering, a Juris Doctor, a Chinese Certificate of Laws, and admission to practice law in New York, Indiana and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Eric brings to his role at Orrick extensive experience in the military, governmental and corporate sectors. He served for seven years in Intelligence in the U.S. Air Force and for twelve years as a Cyber Intelligence Officer with the Central Intelligence Agency. He has worked in the private sector, including in post-breach situations, both with leading cyber consultants and global enterprises in the U.S. and UK. Most recently, he was Global CISO at publicly traded global pharma group Kyowa Kirin.

Eric serves as an advisor to startups and venture capital firms dedicated to transforming cybersecurity, including Confidencial, Radiant Security, NDAY Security, NightDragon and Halcyon Inc.

T. Vann Pearce, Jr. Partner

Vann litigates in forums throughout the country. He has won several inter partes review proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. He has secured favorable jury verdicts in Federal and state courts in Delaware, Florida, Maryland, and Texas. Multiple wins on behalf of his clients at the U.S. International Trade Commission in Section 337 investigations have earned recognition with “Disputes Deal of the Year” awards. And he has crafted winning strategies and briefs in precedent-setting Federal Circuit appeals.  

A chemical engineer by training, Vann is a member of the Patent Bar. His representations involve a broad range of technology fields, including semiconductors, artificial intelligence, consumer electronics, 3D printing, automotive technologies, digital imaging, cryptocurrency, and batteries. His clients are based worldwide, including a significant portion from Japan and China. Vann frequently travels to Asia to speak on key developments in intellectual property law.

Patent infringement litigation is central to Vann’s practice, but he also has handled breach of contract, trade secret misappropriation, antitrust, tortious interference, false advertising, civil theft, and bankruptcy matters. Many of his matters involve a complex mix of claims and counterclaims across legal disciplines, where he employs his strategic judgment to navigate competing risks.

Rose’s experience in technology ranges from complex server systems, semiconductors, electronic ticketing software/hardware, to shavers and pharmaceuticals. Rose has experience litigating small molecule drugs under the Hatch-Waxman framework and biologics under the BPCIA. Her wide range of technological experience and understanding allows her to simplify complex technology into digestible key components for judges and juries. Rose helped secure a General Exclusion Order for a small business client in front of the International Trade Commission, and was part of a team that secured a favorable settlement for Gilead in protecting their blockbuster HIV drugs Descovy, Odefsey and Vemlidy. The suit involved nine generic drug companies and 15 abbreviated drug applications and resulted in a favorable settlement barring generic entry for at least 10 years.

As part of a lean team, Rose helped secure a $17.3 million royalty for Continuous Composites, which is currently the largest award in the 3D printing industry.

In law school, Rose won the prestigious Anthony and Susan Taylor Written Advocacy Award for Best Brief, and a semifinalist in the Oral Advocacy portion of the Hale Moot Court competition. During law school, Rose also clerked at the Children’s Law Center of California, and advocated for abused and disenfranchised children in the Los Angeles county dependency court.

Her zealous pro bono work and advocacy continues beyond law school. Recently, Rose secured a crucial and timely win for the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund in convincing the Western District of Texas from enjoining the enforcement of unconstitutional provisions of the Texas Election Code in light of the 2022 Primary Elections.
