Laura’s practice focuses on the executive compensation and employee benefits aspects of domestic and cross-border public and private mergers and acquisitions, spin-offs, divestitures, IPOs, minority investments and other corporate transactions. She also regularly advises on the design, taxation, disclosure, negotiation, implementation and ongoing administration of equity and cash incentive programs, deferred compensation plans, severance and other change in control and retention arrangements for both public and private companies, including private equity backed companies. Prior to joining Orrick, Austin worked as a research assistant for the Assistant Dean for Energy Law at the George Washington University Law School, a law clerk for the Department of Justice, a financial analyst for large U.S. government acquisitions, and as a project manager for a California-based fintech startup.
