Yumiko advises on data privacy, IP and IT related matters as well as on unfair and deceptive trade practices law.

Yumiko understands the creation process and companies turn to her for advice at the intersection of data privacy, intellectual property and technology.
As a privacy advisor, Yumiko partners with clients globally to navigate complex data protection issues. She advises clients on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), data processing and transfer agreements. She councels clients to tackle challenging privacy questions by giving practical advice to craft data guidelines and policies including privacy policies and incident response plans.
As an intellectual property and technology advisor, Yumiko advises companies on their license agreements, and company contracts, and issues in relation to unfair anddeceptive trade practices. She also advises on due diligence assessments.
With a German/Japanese background, Yumiko has a focus on working with Japanese clients. She is trilingual in German, Japanese and English. She studied at Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms University in Bonn, Germany and Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan.
Prior to joining Orrick, Yumiko worked as a scientific researcher at Bonn University and as an associate in the field of IP/IT and data privacy with another international law firm.
Dr. Stefan Renner, a Partner in Orrick's Düsseldorf office, is a member of the European Corporate Group. Stefan's practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, including private equity and venture capital, as well as corporate restructuring.
He also regularly advises on general civil and commercial law matters including litigation. In addition, Stefan is experienced in real estate transactions.
Before joining Orrick in 2009, Stefan worked as an associate with Bird & Bird LLP in Frankfurt and was an associate in the Frankfurt office of Hölters & Elsing.
Jörg Ritter, a partner in the Munich office, is a member of the Corporate Group. He focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions, venture capital and private equity investments, corporate litigation, German and international tax law and bankruptcy law.
Jörg represents clients in all types of corporate transactions and litigation, including international venture capital and private equity funds as well as a variety of family offices.
Prior to joining Orrick, Jörg was a partner in the Munich office of an international U.S.-headquartered law firm.
Christoph has profound experience in advising clients on public and private M&A transactions, international group reorganizations and ongoing legal advice. His particular focus lies on stock corporation law, board advice and corporate governance aspects.

Andrea Schlote, a Managing Associate in Orrick's Munich office, is a member of the Technology Companies Group. Andrea represents high growth technology companies and venture capital firms in many areas, including corporate law, venture capital financings, and mergers and acquisitions.
Prior to joining Orrick, Andrea worked at the Frankfurt/Main and Munich offices of leading international law firms renowned for its venture capital practice.
Markus advises German and international clients on all aspects of corporate law. His focus lies on domestic and cross-border M&A and Private Equity transactions as well as corporate restructurings.
Prior to joining Orrick, Markus worked as associate at the Munich offices of several leading international law firms.
Thomas Schmid, partner in the Munich Office and head of Orrick's German M&A and private equity team, advises on M&A, private equity and venture capital investments.
Thomas represents clients in national and cross-border transactions, in particular local and international corporates, private equity/venture funds and high growth companies.
He has advised transactions in all sectors but has developed particular expertise in the tech and lifescience/healthcare area.
His practice also covers also capital markets, restructuring and general corporate/commercial matters.

Dennis Schmidt is a member of our Cyber, Privacy & Data Innovation practice. He advises clients on data privacy and IT as well as telecommunications and gambling. With a passion for technology Dennis understands the practical as well as legal needs of his clients.
As a privacy advisor, Dennis advises on the implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), data privacy contracts, privacy policies and employee data protection. As a telecommunications advisor, Dennis advises companies regarding telecommunication secrecy. He is also familiar with the peculiarities of German gambling law.
Before joining Orrick, Dennis practiced data privacy law at another international law firm. He conducted his legal studies in Duesseldorf and Los Angeles.
Julia Schmitz is associate in the Düsseldorf office and member of the M&A and Private Equity Group.
She advises national and international clients on M&A/Private Equity transactions, intragroup cross-border restructuring measures and general corporate law. She joined Orrick in 2015.
Julius Schradin is an associate in the Düsseldorf office and a member of the Antitrust and Competition Practice Group.
Julius advises domestic and international clients on German and European competition law and international trade law, including foreign investment filings in Germany, as well as on compliance matters. Before he joined Orrick at the Düsseldorf Office, Julius worked on multi-jurisdictional cartel and merger cases during his legal training inter alia at the Directorate-General for Competition of the European Commission. His interest in competition law dates back to his university studies in Heidelberg.
Dr. Christian Schröder heads Orrick's IP/IT & Data Privacy Practice Group in Germany in Orrick’s Düsseldorf Office. Christian advises medium sized (Mittelstand) companies to large multinationals on IP, Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices, E-Commerce, IT and Data Privacy/Data Protection.
He is listed in Germany's leading lawyer ranking magazine JUVE as frequently recommended data privacy expert and clients recommend him to JUVE for his "reliable and actionable advice". Christian provides IP/IT advice in M&A transactions and advises on IP focused joint ventures. He supports companies on the set-up of webshops, outsourcings, license agreements, in cases of trademark or unfair and deceptive trade practice issues as well as on hard and software license and IT project agreements.
As a core member of Orrick's global Cyber, Privacy & Data Innovation practice, Christian has a special focus on data privacy/data protection matters. In particular, Christian advises on privacy compliance programs, a risk-based approach to privacy, on implementing databases and new software applications, in particular, cloud based solutions. He advises on IT and data privacy contracts, internal data privacy policies, binding corporate rules, user agreements on BYOD, whistleblowing schemes, e-discovery, security breaches, and intra-group data sharing on a national and international basis. Christian regularly represents market leading clients in IT and data privacy contract negotiations and regularly defends companies against unfair access to their know-how by competitors and against unfair poaching of customers and employees.
