Yolanda Yong is a senior associate in the Corporate group and has advised on a range of cross border and domestic transactions focusing on the energy and infrastructure sector.  Yolanda advises across both the corporate and project documentation for energy and infrastructure projects and also advises on general corporate matters for companies. 

Yolanda has significant experience in the energy and infrastructure space and is comfortable advising across construction, project documentation and corporate law matters which means she is able to provide a holistic service to clients.

Yolanda spent almost a year on secondment with a leading wind farm developer as the legal adviser to a joint venture UK offshore wind farm. Yolanda has also been seconded to the head office of a FTSE 250 construction and facilities management company and also to the corporate legal team at IBM.

Yolanda supports pro bono initiatives within the firm and is an active member of the Diversity and Inclusion committee.

  • Yolanda's recent notable engagements include the following.

    Energy

    • Solar: Acted for various investment funds on the acquisition and sale of over 700 MW of solar capacity in the UK at both development and operational phase (2015 - current).  Acted on the portfolio acquisition of 86 MW for a leading solar yieldco (2016) and the portfolio acquisition of a 156 MW portfolio and joint venture framework to invest £1bln in future solar assets via the 'Kingfisher' platform (2017 - ongoing).
    • Waste wood biomass plant: Acted for a FTSE 100 insurance company, advising and negotiating the construction package for a 10MW waste wood biomass project in the UK (2015).
    • Anaerobic digestion: Acted for the developer, an investment fund, on the construction package for an anaerobic digestion facility in the UK (2014).
    • Energy from Waste: Advising and negotiating the technology sub-contracts for the EPC Contractor on the £150m design and build contracts for an energy from waste plant in Derby (2014) and in Glasgow (July 2012).
    • Wind: Acting for the JV on the West of Duddon Sands wind farm as project legal adviser and for bidders for OFTO assets (2013-14).
    • IWPP: Acted for the lenders to the Fujairah F2 power and water plant in the Port of Fujairah, UAE as ongoing advisers to the project.
    • Oil and gas: Acted for Salamander Energy Plc and 13 entities in its group on a $325 million reserve base lending refinancing of its borrowing base assets in S.E. Asia (2011).
    Infrastructure
    • Acted for the Education Funding Authority in its Priority Schools Building Project (2015).
    • Acted for the developers on a road resurfacing project in Ireland (2012).
