Antitrust and Competition
Antitrust cases and compliance efforts involve high stakes for Orrick’s
clients around the world. We represent clients in antitrust-related
matters from Australia to Germany, and in the United States,
from state to federal courts and other regulatory agencies.
Our lawyers bring direct experience from working in the offices
of U.S. state attorney generals, the Federal Trade Commission,
and the United States Department of Justice.
Our antitrust team has the in-depth resources and skill to
respond quickly to the full range of issues faced by large and
small client companies alike. Our industry experience includes
transportation, biotechnology, chemical manufacturing, technology,
and financial services.
We have extensive experience in the area of criminal and civil
cartel enforcement cases in the United States and Europe.
We also are regularly involved in defense and plaintiff representations
in business-versus-business antitrust cases, including dozens
of class actions in the vitamins and securities industries.
Some of our recent client retentions involved federal, state,
Canadian, and European merger reviews. We have achieved successful
patent settlements in the electronics, biotechnology, and
pharmaceutical industries. In addition, we have represented
clients in Robinson-Patman and state law price discrimination
litigation involving household consumer products.
