Orrick Named to Law360's Inaugural Global 20 List of International Law Firms
06-01-2011
San Francisco - Law 360, a leading online source for legal news and analysis, has included Orrick on its "Global 20," an inaugural list of the world's leading global law firms. Law 360 selected law firms for the list that have led the profession in persevering during the economic crisis and in expanding in the U.S. and abroad.
Firms were ranked in five categories: the number of countries where the firm has offices, the number of offices outside the firm's home country, the percentage of attorneys working outside the firm's home country, the breadth of the firm's international work, and the size and complexity of the firm's cross-border work.
"Orrick's position among the Global 20 is a measure of our focus on delivering the highest quality expertise, informed by deep industry knowledge, in the markets of importance to our clients," said Orrick chairman Ralph Baxter.
With offices in 23 markets worldwide, Orrick's platform today is more than one third international. A significant portion of the firm's client work is cross-border in nature and a few examples include advising Norwegian telecommunications operator Telenor ASA on the $23.8 billion combination of its mobile assets, the firm's number one position in IPOs on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, its representation of Vivendi concluding 11 years of litigation in the U.S. and Europe related to its Polish telecoms investment, and the firm's work on some of the most significant cross-border investments in renewable and cleantech energy transactions in the past year.
This recognition follows on the heels of Orrick being named IP Law Firm of the Year for 2010 by Law 360, California law firm of the year for 2010 by PLC Which Lawyer, making The National Law Journal's 2011 Appellate Hot List and receiving two Law 360 Litigator of the Week Awards.
