Tokyo Office — Capital Markets and Securities
The capital markets lawyers in our Tokyo office are part of Orrick's globally integrated network of lawyers with extensive experience in the securities markets of China, France, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Korea, Russia, Taiwan, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Orrick's Tokyo office has extensive experience representing underwriters and issuers, both domestic and foreign, in connection with listings on Japanese stock exchanges, including IPOs and pre-IPO venture businesses with general IPO-related legal matters. Our practice also encompasses both regulatory and transactional advice to investment funds and other investors on relevant securities and financial laws and regulations in Japan.
The lead partner on the IPO practice team in our Tokyo office was one of the first lawyers in Japan to perform underwriter IPO-related due diligence and provide pioneering IPO support to issuers, including a landmark NASDAQ Japan (currently Hercules) spin-off project. Additional examples of IPO-related clients include:
- The largest provider of social networking services in Japan with a total market value of initially offered shares exceeding ¥100 billion.
- The operating company of Japan's foremost real estate portal site.
- The first Chinese owned and operated company to be MOTHERS-listed.
- The operating company of Japan's largest English language teaching school with more than 50 global partners.
- A leading Korean on-line game company.
