Rome Office
Orrick’s Rome office was opened in 2004 when the entire team of three partners and 13 associates joined the firm from Studio Legale e Tributario, a local firm focusing on two primary practice areas: banking and finance (with particular emphasis on structured finance and securitisation) and administrative law (focusing on public procurement and project finance). Today, through strategic internal and lateral growth, the Rome office handle matters across a range of areas, including: banking and finance, structured finance, administrative law, mergers and acquisitions, and project finance, among others.
As the seat of the Italian Parliament and important Italian regulatory authorities, Rome is the centre of administrative law in Italy. It is also an important commercial and financial centre in its own right, serving as headquarters for major Italian corporations, public service providers, construction companies, and banking and financial services institutions. Orrick has strong practices in international finance, corporate, M&A, antitrust, and administrative law, and through our Rome office, we are responsive to our clients in this important international marketplace.
Legislative changes and recent amendments to Italian constitutional law are requiring local and regional public entities to find creative financing solutions to deal with reduced public budgets. Orrick is internationally renowned for its work on public finance matters, and our team in Rome brings to our service mix the kind of experience, influence and client base that, combined with the resources of our Milan, London, Moscow and Paris offices, make Orrick a formidable legal authority throughout Italy and across Europe.
In addition, Orrick is an international leader in structured finance and our clients are active worldwide. An Orrick finance team in Rome underpins our European finance presence and enhances our ability to support key clients in cross-border transactions. The combined global resources of the 18 offices that make up Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP work cooperatively to bring our clients unsurpassed client service. We advise on matters governed by U.S., Italian, English and international law, and when required by the needs of our clients, lawyers in our Rome office can call on the support of practitioners in our other offices — whether in the United States, Europe or Asia — to ensure that our clients receive the same seamless client service that has become our hallmark around the world.
