London – Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP has added Stephanie Bates as a partner in its London office. Formerly the co-head of Mayer Brown’s London Capital Markets Group, Bates focuses her practice on representing issuers and underwriters in U.K. equity capital markets transactions and public company mergers and acquisitions.

Bates has substantial experience in the financial institution sector, having advised leading institutions in acquisitions and dispositions of asset management and commercial finance platforms.  She also acts for numerous FTSE 250 companies in U.K. and cross-border transactions, with a focus on the technology, media, house building, life sciences and retail sectors.

This news follows the recent additions of Matthew Lawson and Simon Willis, formerly of Mayer Brown, Anthony Riley, formerly of Norton Rose, and Sam Millar and Tony Katz, formerly General Counsel and Group Head of Compliance at Liquid Capital Group, respectively, to Orrick’s London office.
