Asia IP

The China IP team has achieved recognition for its high-profile work. Asia IP, the leading intellectual property magazine covering Asia, ranked Orrick as a leading international law firm in China in its annual Asia Patent Survey.

Asian-Counsel

Orrick was recently recognized by Asian-Counsel for two deals:

• Asian-Counsel named eBay's US$1.2 billion acquisition of Gmarket as Deal of the Year. Orrick advised Gmarket Inc., South Korea's largest e-commerce provider, in this complex business combination transaction that is structured to allow eBay Inc. to acquire a controlling interest in Gmarket and combine eBay's Korean Internet auction operations with Gmarket.
• Additionally, the liquidation/workout of Lehman Brothers' assets received an honorable mention. A team of lawyers from the Hong Kong office advised O500 client KPMG in its role as liquidator of Lehman Brothers' portfolio of Chinese debt and equity investments.

China Law & Practice

Orrick's China team received the 2008 China Law & Practice "Deal of the Year" award in capital markets for its work on the Shandong Chenming Paper Holding Limited IPO transaction.

Orrick was named a finalist for 2007 "Firm of the Year" (Securitization & Structured Finance) and 2007 "Deal of the Year" (Securitization & Structured Finance) from China Law & Practice.

National Law Journal

Orrick was named to the National Law Journal's "Appellate Hot List," which recognizes the nation's leading appellate practices. The April 6, 2009, issue of the weekly legal news publication singled out law firms that "scored at least one significant appellate win since February 2007, plus an impressive legacy overall." Orrick was one of 20 law firms to make the list.
