Sasha also has substantial experience advising clients on the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA), Military Lending Act (MLA), Consumer Financial Protection Act (CFPA), Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), Fair Housing Act (FHA), and Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). He advises companies, non-profits and industry associations with consumer privacy issues arising from the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) and Regulation P, the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and its Affiliate Marketing Rule and state and federal laws that address data privacy and information security.
In addition to representing clients, Sasha has published numerous articles on various aspects of consumer financial services law and practice, including data privacy, class action litigation, white collar litigation, whistleblower lawsuits and recent trends in regulation and enforcement. He also maintains an active pro bono practice and serves as a member of the Legal Counsel for the Elderly’s Young Lawyers Alliance. A frequent speaker on a variety of legal topics, Sasha has taught at Duke University School of Law and American University Washington College of Law, and was previously a Professorial Lecturer in Law at the George Washington University Law School.
Prior to joining Orrick, Sasha was a partner at Buckley LLP. He also previously served as Deputy Press Secretary to Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley. He is accredited as a Privacy Law Specialist, a Fellow of Information Privacy, a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM/US), and a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) by the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
She is also a member of the firm's AI & Privacy Committee which focuses on researching and writing about various legal issues in the field of artificial intelligence.

Jim is past chair of the Embarcadero YMCA Board of Managers and remains active in YMCA philanthropy. In his spare time, he enjoys time with his family and is a recreational long course triathlete.
Leveraging both a technical background and a Federal Circuit clerkship, Scott has extensive experience across IP life sciences subject matters, including biologics and monoclonal antibody manufacturing, non-invasive prenatal testing, medical devices, flow cytometry and drug products treating and preventing conditions including HIV, multiple sclerosis, prostate cancer, ovarian cancer, women’s health and bipolar disorder. Scott also has experience in life sciences-related international arbitration, M&A due diligence and in the telecommunications technology field.
Scott’s successes include obtaining a complete jury trial victory in defending the first company ever sued by the United States government for patent infringement, defending a major supplier of innovative noninvasive prenatal testing services and defending the trade secrets of a major manufacturer of cell culture media products for the manufacture of biologics.
Scott also maintains an appellate pro bono practice.
As the Director of Responsible Business Solutions at Orrick, Hayden helps clients design, build and defend their approach to responsible business. Hayden has provided advice on building climate change programs, preparing standards-aligned sustainability reports, and defending against shareholder and activist proposals. This includes outsourced solutions for CDP and EcoVadis reporting, addressing and improving third-party sustainability ratings and rankings, and building and running sustainability governance and management committees. Hayden has also helped dozens of clients prepare sustainability reports aligned with the SASB Standards, recommendations of the TCFD, and GRI Standards.
Jerry has been active in traditional bond financings for governmental entities such as school districts, cities, counties and special-purpose districts, advising them on general obligation, ad valorem tax-secured financings and special or limited obligation financings, such as utility system revenue-secured financings, conduit financings, financings for state agencies and financings for entities authorized to act on behalf of the State of Texas and its political subdivisions, including tax and revenue anticipation and general obligation and special-purpose facility revenue financings.
At Orrick, Jerry serves on the Chairman's Advisory Board and formerly served as the firm's Austin office leader.
Othmane advises French and international financial institutions (bank and institutional lenders) and sponsors (industrialists, developers, investment funds) on the development and financing of projects in the energy and infrastructure sectors. He is also involved in asset finance transactions.
He has worked on transactions in France as well as on international transactions, in the financing and development of public-private, telecoms, transport and energy projects.
Libby joins trial teams – both within and outside of Orrick – and takes the role of legal strategist and brief writer. Before trial, Libby develops strategies for raising and preserving legal issues, especially Daubert issues and dispositive motions. At trial, Libby handles the charge conference, Rule 50(a) or directed verdict motions, and pocket briefing as needed. After trial, she manages the post-trial briefing and transitions the case to appeal.
More than half of Libby's cases involve co-counsel outside of Orrick, where she quickly develops productive and collaborative relationships with outside litigation teams. She has experience in trial courts in Delaware, Texas, California (state and federal), Massachusetts, and the ITC.
In addition to her trial work, Libby maintains a robust appellate practice. Libby leads appellate briefing and has presented oral arguments in the Federal Circuit, Ninth Circuit, and New York Appellate Division. She has also represented clients in appeals to the Sixth Circuit, DC Circuit, California Court of Appeal, and US Supreme Court.
Libby also has an active pro bono practice, including representing the Arizona Federal Public Defender’s Office in an ongoing administrative challenge to capital habeas proceedings.
Prior to joining Orrick, Libby served as a law clerk to Judge Raymond C. Clevenger III of the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and to Judge Ronald M. Whyte of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. Before law school, Libby was a patent examiner in the medical device area at the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Damon focuses his practice on state and locally based legislative and regulatory issues. He has experience inside of government, having served as Assistant Counsel to the New York Senate Majority. Subsequent to his time in the Senate, he served as a Vice President for the Parkside Group, a New York lobbying firm. He eventually transitioned to an in-house corporate position as Vice President for State Government Affairs for DIRECTV, with a national purview overseeing all aspects of state and local legislative matters for the company. Immediately prior to joining Orrick, he served as Vice President of Government Affairs and State Advocacy Coordinator at AT&T, maintaining national responsibility for satellite-related issues.
Miranda has experience defending clients in all stages of litigation on a broad range of employment law issues. She has significant experience regarding independent contractor misclassification matters, including both single plaintiff and class action litigation involving wage and hour claims, and representative actions under California's Private Attorneys General Act. Miranda also has particular expertise in defending clients in whistleblower retaliation cases.
In addition to her litigation practice, Miranda also counsels clients on California's complex employment laws.
