Lisa Siu, a senior associate in Orrick's Hong Kong office, is a member of the Litigation Group.  Ms. Siu's practice focuses on complex commercial litigation and arbitration and enforcement of intellectual property rights.  She also has experience in advising on employment and employment benefits law in Hong Kong.

Ms. Siu's recent experience includes the following.

  • Acting for a U.S. company in domestic arbitration proceedings in relation to a merger and acquisition dispute.
  • Acting for a Hong Kong company in relation to a shareholders' dispute.
  • Acting for a Hong Kong conglomerate in obtaining and resisting court orders for the gathering of evidence pursuant to letters of request issued by the California Courts.  This included instructing expert witnesses on technology relating to cable television set-top box systems in China.
  • Representing a Japanese electronics manufacturer in enforcing its intellectual property rights matters. This included coordinating with investigators, the Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department, and various Administrations of Industry and Commerce (AICs) in China to gather all necessary evidence.
  • Acting for banks in pursuing debt recovery actions against borrowers and guarantors and commenced bankruptcy and winding-up proceedings against defaulting judgment debtors.
  • Acting for an insurance company in commencing bankruptcy and winding-up proceedings against former agents; negotiating settlement terms with the former agents; preparing prepared settlement documentation; and advising on employment matters.
  • Advising various companies (both Hong Kong and overseas) in relation to employment-related issues, including termination entitlements, enforcement and application of restrictive covenants, claims for breach of employment contract and variation of the contractual terms.
