Ms. Michelle Yip, a managing associate in Orrick's San Francisco office, has a general real estate and real estate finance practice, which includes real estate secured lending transactions and the acquisition, disposition, development and leasing of commercial property.  Ms. Yip has represented institutional lenders, international banks, international pension funds, borrowers, developers and investment managers in connection with a variety of matters.

The following are some of Ms. Yip's representative transactions:
  • Representation of an international pension fund in connection with mortgage loans secured by commercial and industrial property located in California and elsewhere in the United States.
  • Representation of a real estate investment management firm in its investment in and financing of the majority interest in a US$2.5 billion joint venture formed to develop or redevelop a portfolio of 93 assets on 42 development sites located throughout the greater Washington, D.C. metro area, as office, retail, hotel and multifamily residential.
  • Representation of an institutional lender, as bondholder, in connection with the real estate loan aspects of mortgage bond transactions relating to the development of multifamily affordable housing projects.
  • Representation of an investment company in connection with the acquisition and disposition of affordable housing projects in California and Texas.
  • Representation of a developer in connection with a US$80 million financing of a wind energy project in Oregon.
  • Representation of major international banks in connection with over US$2.5 billion in financing for office, retail, condominium and hotel projects, including construction and term loan facilities.
  • Representation of a real estate investment management firm in the updating of its loan compliance framework.
  • Representation of pro bono clients such as the ACLU Foundation of Northern California and the Food Bank of Yolo County in connection with financing and leasing matters.

    Before joining Orrick, Ms. Yip was an associate at Sonnenschein, Nath & Rosenthal LLP in New York.
