Yali Hu, an associate in Orrick's Beijing office, is a member of the Intellectual Property Group. Ms. Hu assists local- and foreign-based multinational companies with all aspects of their intellectual property rights in China, Europe and the United States, including Section 337 U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) litigation. Ms. Hu has extensional experience in patent, trademark, domain name, copyright and trade secret.
Ms. Hu's intellectual property-related services include patent filing and subsequent maintenance affairs for her clients, including the following.
- Drafting application documents (claims, specification, abstract and drawings) and advising a proper protection scope based on the technical disclosure provided by the clients.
- Translating the English application documents filed at foreign patent offices into Chinese and amending them according to the provisions of Chinese patent practice.
- Correcting application documents in preliminary examination procedure.
- Transferring and responding to Office Actions in substantive examination procedure.
- Requesting re-examination with respect to decision of final rejection, communicating with the examiner and amending application documents in pre- reexamination and reexamination procedure.
