Vladimir Markin, of counsel in the Moscow office, is a member of the European Corporate Group. Mr. Markin has extensive experience advising clients on a wide variety of corporate and commercial transactions in Russia, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate restructurings, securities offerings, internal and cross-border commercial transactions, corporate governance issues and other corporate and commercial law matters, with a particular focus on the telecommunications, food industry, transport infrastructure and mineral resources sectors.
Mr. Markin’s notable engagements include advising:
- a European telecommunications company in connection with the restructuring of its investments in Russia, including its acquisition of 100% of a Russian competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC) and the subsequent exchange of such shares for a stake in a U.S. publicly traded telecommunications company active in Russia, as well as the sale of its stake in various Russian regional mobile operators;
- a European telecommunications company on its investment in an NYSE-listed Russian mobile operator;
- the Property Fund of the Russian Federation on its global offering of a major Russian oil company’s GDRs and the listing of such GDRs on the London Stock Exchange;
- the Property Fund of the Russian Federation on its privatization sale of a majority stake in a major Russian oil company; and
- a major international investment bank in its investment in a major player in the Russian food industry sector.
Before joining the firm, Mr. Markin was an associate at Coudert Brothers in New York (1997) and Moscow (1997-2005).
