Maria Kosova, an associate in the Washington, D.C., office, is a member of the Russia Practice and the Corporate Group. Ms. Kosova works closely with the Moscow office and advises on a wide variety of Russian legal issues, including commercial and corporate law, as well as regulatory matters. - Represented Russian and foreign buyers and sellers in connection with purchase and sale of real estate in Russia (land plots, office buildings and shopping centers).
- Represented Russian and foreign borrowers in connection with real estate acquisition and project financing involving Russian and European banks.
- Advised landlords and tenants in connection with the negotiation of commercial leases.
- Advised a hotel operator in connection with the negotiation of hotel management agreements.
- Represented clients in connection with the acquisition of aircraft from several major manufacturers.
- Represented oil companies in connection with the design, construction, fabrication and supply contracts for development of oil fields.
- Advised clients in connection with commercial real estate construction projects.
- Advised clients in connection with investments in Russian agricultural sector – lease and purchase of farmland.
- Conducted due diligence in agricultural (sugar and grain), oil and gas, commercial real estate and stevedore business sectors.
- Advised several stevedore companies in connection with a number of transshipment agreements with major Russian and European grain, fertilizer and oil companies, as well as in connection with agreements on lease of berths and the lease and supply of various equipment.
Prior to transferring to the Washington, D.C., office, Ms. Kosova worked in the Moscow office for several years.
