Orrick Strengthens London Energy Transition Bench

  • Rising star Albert Yu joins Orrick’s London E&I team as a partner.
  • Albert advises project sponsors, lenders export credit agencies and funds on market-leading renewables projects, with particular experience in offshore wind.
  • He joins an Orrick team in London that is helping to lead the development of the on and offshore wind markets across Europe and Asia (through collaboration with the firm’s Singapore office), among other renewables projects.
  • Albert’s joining follows the addition of U.S. renewables tax expert John Eliason as the firm invests in supporting Energy Transition and Energy Tech. It also follow’s Giji John’s move to Singapore to focus on Renewable Energy and Energy Transition in Southeast Asia.

Albert is Orrick’s 15th partner hire in Energy & Infrastructure since the beginning of 2022. He joins an Orrick platform that was top 3 in renewables transactions by volume in 2022 (Inspiratia) and was named ‘Legal Advisory of the Year’ by at the 2023 Wind Investment Awards (Tamarindo).

To date, not only has Orrick advised on the largest offshore transmission owner transaction by size in the UK and the first majority locally financed non-recourse offshore wind project in Asia, but we’re also advising on pioneering offshore wind joint venture arrangements in jurisdictions where offshore wind is in its infancy, including Sweden, Poland, Vietnam, Italy, Ireland, the U.S. and Greece.
