Training Programme

At Orrick, the training we will provide you with is second to none when it comes to setting you on the right path to a bright future as a lawyer. You will be part of a truly international team from day one, gaining experience in all types of corporate, finance and litigation matters and working closely with lawyers across our network of global offices on cross-border transactions.

We offer a varied and extensive training programme and have a dedicated trainee partner who oversees the supervision and management of trainees. We provide regular training sessions, and we draw on a range of speakers including in-house experts, clients and specialist professionals in their fields to provide an extensive and varied programme.

As a trainee, you will sit four six-month seats, one of which must be a contentious seat. You will receive regular appraisals throughout your two-year contract to ensure you receive the constructive feedback necessary to gain the most out of your training. In each seat, you will be supervised by a partner with help, as appropriate, from associates.

Professional Skills Course

Trainees undertake the Professional Skills Course during their induction programme. The course takes two weeks, and once you have completed this you will be ready to commence your first seat.
