Community Responsibility
Orrick lawyers and professional staff share a strong commitment and responsibility to enhance the communities
in which they live and work. Through a combination of pro bono legal services, financial contributions and
volunteerism, the firm supports strategies that bring services to those who would not otherwise have access.
Last year Orrick supported more than 200 community service organizations. Because of this dedication, Orrick
considers charitable requests from our lawyers and staff only.
Community Involvement
Orrick fosters community involvement efforts at the local office level as well as firmwide. The Community
Responsibility Committee and professional staff oversee these efforts, ensuring maximum impact in our three
designated areas of emphasis:
- Education
- Legal Services
- Arts
By focusing on these areas, Orrick lawyers and staff support partnerships like these:
School for the Arts in Learning
Orrick partners with this Washington, D.C., employment training program and public charter school, which serves students with special needs with an arts-based curriculum.
The California Bar Foundation
The California Bar Foundation's Diversity Scholarship supports California law students from groups historically
underrepresented in the legal profession. Scholarships are awarded to students with financial need who
demonstrate commitment to their communities. Financial awards help students cover expenses associated with the
high cost of law school.
Carnegie Hall - Musical Explorers
Orrick supports The Weill Music Institute at Carnegie Hall's Musical Explorers program for first and second grade
students in public schools throughout New York City's five boroughs. Children explore New York City's diverse
musical heritage through song in their classrooms and participate in two interactive concerts at Carnegie Hall
each year featuring multicultural and classical ensembles.
