A key focus of our future is innovation. We utilize our Global Operations Center (GOC) as a laboratory for developing new ways to provide efficient and high-value service to our clients — anywhere in the world, at any time of day. The GOC is particularly vital in harnessing Orrick's worldwide legal capabilities to meet clients' international needs. We are currently supporting clients with the following:
- Global Corporate Solutions — Clients face the challenge of tracking, interpreting and complying with the relevant laws and regulations in hundreds of jurisdictions worldwide. Coordinating with foreign subsidiaries and functional departments to maintain and document compliance can be time consuming and drains internal resources that could otherwise be allocated to strategic projects. Orrick's Global Corporate Solutions are designed to enable our clients to outsource critical compliance functions in whole or in part.
We are partnering with innovative clients to develop a system that leverages Orrick's global legal knowledge databases and state-of-the-art document assembly and management extranets. In addition to accessing our knowledge and compliance systems, clients will have the ability to seamlessly outsource day-to-day compliance activities, both domestic and international, to a dedicated Orrick team in our GOC. Our comprehensive Global Corporate approach is designed to yield enhanced efficiency, high quality and a highly customized approach to each client's compliance function.
- Corporate Secretary Services — Orrick is developing a workflow and technology platform to assist clients with global corporate secretary responsibilities. This includes data and document management, efficient task management, enhanced reporting, and the development and maintenance of a knowledge base for in-house counsel to monitor numerous international regulations relating to the management of their international corporate subsidiaries.
- Litigation Management System — Orrick developed and maintains proprietary Litigation Management System ("LMS") extranets to assist our clients with managing complex litigation involving multiple parties, multiple cases and numerous co-counsel. LMS extranets have been deployed successfully to support the management of antitrust, class action, intellectual property and product liability litigation on behalf of several clients.
- Electronic Data Discovery — For litigation involving hundreds of thousands of documents such as e-mail, memoranda and other business communications, Orrick has developed a scalable, in-house team of trained professionals at our GOC to complete the majority of "first-cut" document reviews under the supervision of teams of lawyers, enabling the firm to deliver top-quality electronic discovery services, while keeping costs down for our clients.
- OrrickChinaLaw.com — Orrick's China lawyers have compiled more than 40,000 laws and regulations, along with background material on China's legal system and government. Combined with analysis and commentary provided in our newsletters and published articles, this database is one of the largest collections of China-related legal materials in the world.
- Emerging Company Start-Up Kit — Orrick lawyers maintain a library of essential legal documents such as certificates of incorporation and stock purchase agreements. We provide this start-up kit to our emerging company clients to help them build a solid legal foundation for future growth.
