Orrick Expands in London with Addition of Shawn Atkinson and Michael Crosby

Orrick announced today that Shawn Atkinson and Michael Crosby have joined the firm as partners, resident in London.

Formerly co-chair of Edwards Wildman's Venture Capital, Cross-Border and Central & Eastern Europe Groups, Mr. Atkinson is a leader in late stage venture transactions and in early stage private equity transactions in Europe and emerging markets. He also advises private equity funds, technology companies and venture capital funds, such as Bessemer Venture Partners and Battery Ventures.

Mr. Atkinson’s wider corporate practice includes multi-jurisdictional and complex corporate transactions, including private acquisitions and disposals, distressed M&A, venture capital financings, bridging transactions and initial public offerings for a variety of clients, including FTSE 100, Fortune 500 companies and startups. 

Michael Crosby, who will head up Orrick’s English Law Banking and Finance Practice Group, focuses on representing alternative credit funds, hedge funds and other special situation lenders, private equity sponsors and banks in leveraged financings across Europe. Formerly head of Proskauer’s English law finance practice, Mr. Crosby also has significant experience in financings in the Middle East and North Africa where Orrick has a leading practice.

Ranked in Chambers UK as a leader in banking & finance, Mr. Crosby received his LPC/Law Society Finals at the College of Law, London, completed his Common Professional Examination at the College of Law, Guildford, and earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Durham. He is a member of the Supreme Court of England.
