New York – Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP announced today
that Tara Higgins, Torsten Marshall and
Rafael Galvan, a group of leading energy and project finance
partners from Bingham McCutchen, have joined the firm as partners in Orrick’s
Energy and Infrastructure Group, resident in New York.
Tara, formerly co-chair of Bingham’s Energy and Project Finance Group, will
become co-head (along with San Francisco partner Mark Weitzel)
of Orrick's U.S. energy practice. The partners bring with them robust energy and
project finance experience, representing major entities such as GE Energy
Financial Services, the Overseas Private Investment Corporation, Atlantic Power
Corporation and the U.S. Department of Energy. These representations have led to
numerous award-winning deals both domestically and internationally, including
the Shepherd’s Flat wind power project, which reached commercial operation in
2012.
"The energy sector continues to grow rapidly, and Orrick is committed to its
role as a key player in the industry," said Michael Meyers,
co-head of Orrick's Global Energy & Infrastructure practice. "Tara, Torsten and
Rafael's joining us is very exciting, as we deepen our expertise and bench and
broaden our client base, while adding some wonderful people. It’s a great
development."
"Orrick’s Energy and Infrastructure practice is clearly an industry leader –
having advised on many of the deals that are currently shaping the industry
today," said Tara. "We are very excited to join forces: the Orrick platform
enables us to serve existing and new clients at the highest level, with
colleagues with whom we share strong values."
Recognized as leading lawyers by Chambers and Legal 500, the
partners have received numerous awards for their work on many of today's most
notable renewable deals by leading publications Euromoney,
ProjectFinance magazine, Project Finance International, Power
Finance & Risk magazine and Infrastructure Journal. The new team
expects to be joined by several associates from Bingham over the coming weeks.
