Sonia Valdez, an associate in Orrick's Silicon Valley Office, is a member of the Intellectual Property Group.  Her practice focuses on patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret litigation.

Prior to joining Orrick, Ms. Valdez worked at Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights in San Francisco.  While there, Ms. Valdez managed an economic justice program providing low-income entrepreneurs with legal advice, including advice on intellectual property matters.  She also contributed to litigation and policy efforts in various areas of civil rights.

During law school, Ms. Valdez was a summer associate at Orrick.  She also worked with AIDS-Free World to develop legal strategies for combating political violence in Africa, and worked with the Santa Clara County Counsel’s office to develop model voting rights policies.  Before law school, Ms. Valdez worked in publishing and public radio.
