James Tervo is a partner in the real estate group, having recently returned to San Francisco after spending seven and one-half years in Orrick's Asia offices.  Jim continues as the coordinating partner of Orrick's Asia real estate practice and is responsible for the real estate practices in Orrick's Tokyo, Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai offices.  Mr. Tervo is a past office leader of Orrick's China and Tokyo offices.

Jim focuses on real estate finance and related entity formation and capitalization, representing lending institutions, investment banks, developers, and both domestic and foreign investors.  Recent projects include numerous acquisitions and senior and mezzanine debt financings for office, hotel, retail and residential properties.

In 1996-97, Mr. Tervo served in the Mayor's executive cabinet of the City of Detroit and was in charge of the development and financing of the new Detroit Tiger baseball stadium (Comerica Park).
