Alessandro De Nicola, senior partner in the Italy offices (Milan and Rome), is deputy Corporate Group leader and a member of the Antitrust and Competition Group. He served as the head of the European Corporate Group from 2006 to 2009.

Mr. De Nicola has extensive experience in commercial, corporate, private equity and securities, mergers and acquisitions, and antitrust matters. He has worked on complex and cross-border corporate transactions including acquisitions, corporate restructurings and mergers for some of the most important players in the market.

Mr. De Nicola has pleaded in front of the Italian Antitrust Authority, Consob (the public authority responsible for regulating the Italian securities market) and civil and administrative courts.

He has led extensive corporate governance projects.

Mr. De Nicola earned his doctorate discussing a thesis on corporate law and economics, and has been teaching for 12 years as adjunct professor in comparative business law and advanced corporate law at Bocconi University in Milan. He also serves as scientific coordinator of the Master in Law organized by Il Sole 24 Ore Business School.

Mr. De Nicola has been a regular columnist for Il Sole 24 Ore, the financial newspaper with the largest circulation in Europe, from 2000 to 2011. Since 2011, he has been a columnist for L'Espresso, a weekly newsmagazine with the second largest circulation in Italy, and La Repubblica, a daily newspaper with the largest readership in Italy and the largest Web readership in Europe.

Prior to joining Orrick, Mr. De Nicola was the national director of the Ernst & Young firm in Italy.
