​Orrick is looking for a Career Associate to join our Patent Litigation practice group.  This position will be located in one of the following offices:  Seattle, Sacramento, Orange County, Silicon Valley or Global Operations Center (GOC) in Wheeling, WV.

This role supports the needs of the Patent Litigation practice group, particularly with regards to both billable and non-billable patent prosecution related matters throughout the firm. The incumbent must possess excellent writing skills with the ability to communicate complex information in both oral and written communications. Qualifications include:

  • Technical degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering degree is required, with preference for an Electrical Engineering degree.
  • JD from accredited law school required.
  • Licensure from at least one (1) jurisdiction. 
  • Patent Bar Registration is required.
  • 2-5 years prior Intellectual Property Prosecution experience required.
  • A strong technical background is required. Specialized knowledge or focus in specific areas of Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering may be particularly valued.
  • A strong knowledge of the developments and evolution of specific technical areas, for example: computer games, mobile games, artificial intelligence, deep learning, big data, online search methods, mobile communications, applications (APPs) for cell phones and internet infrastructure.
  • Must possess excellent legal research, writing, and interpersonal skills
  • Native or near native spoken and written fluency in Mandarin required.
